Udupi: Sode Mutt to Open Engineering College at Bantakal

Udupi, Jan 13: The Sri Sode Vadiraja Math Education Trust will be starting the Sri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management at Bantakal in Udupi district in 2010-11.

Rathnakumar, secretary of the trust, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the BE course to be offered in the institute would have computer science and engineering, electronics and communications, mechanical engineering and civil engineering. However, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) course would be offered from 2011-12, he said. The institute had already got approval from the Visvesvaraya Technological University and the State Government. Approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was awaited. The institute would come up on a 10-acre plot belonging to Sode Vadiraja Math in Bantakal. The math had 70 acres of land at Vishwothama Nagar in Bantakal, he said.

Visvesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math would be laying the foundation stone of the institute’s building on January 22. Home Minister V.S. Acharya, Higher Education Minister Arvind Limbavali and Vishwavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Sode Vadiraja Math would be present, Mr. Rathnakumar said. Vice-president of the trust P. Srinivas Tantri, and advisers H.K.V. Rao and K. Damodar Aithal were present.
