Bejai New Road, where the Late Georgie was born and lived should be named after him. This is the least one can do. The best would be to name either Mangalore' Junction or Mangalore Central after him, apart from the Kinkan Railway Project, he also stood by the Railway men. One of the best and down to earth Politicians, selfless.

Great tribute to a Christian leader who has given extraordinary services to the Nation for several years of his life. Bijey Church was very thoughtful in giving a suitable place for a highly deserving personality who has served a great deal of his time and expertise for the service of this country.

Late Mr. George Fernandes should be recognized in a much greater context so that many other Christians of India may come forward and give their very best to the Nation where we Christians are a minority yet we have a good opportunity to serve and dedicate towards the country that deserves our best.

It is a very kind gesture on the part of His Lordship Bishop Saldanha to inaugurate George Fernandes memorial at Bijai Church, Mangalore.

George Fernandes proved the power of democracy. He started the Konkan railway project. He could understand the pulse of the people and earned important positions in the cabinet. He was the voice of the voiceless and strength of the weak." He is no more but has found a place for himself in the hearts many many people.

As a Mumbaikar, i firmly believe that Shri George Fernandes, who was the son of our soil, should be honoured publicly, with a Memorial near Town hall in Mangaluru city, rather then an insignificant memorial within Bijai church !!!!!!!

Agreed that the Late George Fernandes is a proud son of Mangalore and Bejai, but what purpose does this so called memorial serve? Was it not better if a trust for example helping the marginalized, women, orphans, destitute or such was formed. That have made better sense and honoured his memory.
