Mangaluru: New train from Bengaluru to benefit passengers from twin-districts

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Feb 12: Union railway minister of state, Suresh Angadi, has announced the introduction of a special train that will be convenient for the people from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. The train will run between Bengaluru and Vasco via Kundapur and Karwar. Time table has been finalized and the train awaits flagging off.

This train will particularly be advantageous for people from Udupi, Kundapur, Karwar and Byndoor. Demand for the same had been made by Railway Passengers Welfare Committee. The train will touch Padil in Mangaluru before moving towards Udupi. The train number allotted happens to be 06587 - 06588.

Because of objection to the time table of the train, discussions was held by the Samiti members with south western railway chief, A K Singh, at Hubballi on Monday and discussed the matter. The train leaves Yeshwantpur station at 6.45 pm everyday and reaches Padil at 3.30 am. The train is scheduled to reach Udupi at 4.50 am, Kundapur at 5.20 am and Karwar at 8.30 am. It will reach its final destination, Vasco at 10.30 am. On its return journey, it leaves Vasco at 4.40 am, reach Karwar at 7 pm, Byndoor at 10.33 pm, Kndapur at 10.55 pm, Udupi at 11.25 pm, Padil at 12.20 am and Yeshwantpur at 9 am.

The railway officials have said that this time table is ad hoc in nature and it will be revised for the benefit of the passengers.

MP Shobha Karandlaje, who shared her joy at the sanction of the new train through Twitter account, hailed the railway passengers committee's efforts in making this a reality.

As the train moves towards Udupi via Padil bypass, the time it spends in Central and Junction stations (approx two and half hours) is saved and the people will be able to reach their destinations earlier.

Ganesh Putran, president of Railway Passengers Welfare Committee, said that the train could become a reality with the efforts put in by MP Shobha Karandlaje, union minister Suresh Angadi, minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, minister Prahlad Joshi, Kumta MLA Dinkar Shetty, MP Ananth Kumar Hegde and others. He said that the earlier Bengaluru-Karwar train will move as per its earlier schedule.

i DO NOT understand, while inward journey from Karwar to Vasco it travels in 2 hours (8.30 am to 10.30 am) but whilst return it takes 15 hours ( 4.40 am to 7.00 pm). Is this a keying error, or it really takes that much time.

Since this train will not touch M’lore Central & M’lore Junction, passengers staying around Kottara - Bijai – Derebail can alight at Suratkal. It will be further convenient if a stop is also made at Thokur.

It could be a joy for her not a common commuter. It will be certainly a joy if we get train connectivity as good as Kerala! Their MP/ MLAs are powerful and clever! We voted Modi....not local reps.....Unfortunately Modi can not attend each and every requirement of DK!

Shabakka who shared her joy, kindly take note of the Mangalore - Mumbai, Matsyagandha Express, which is making way for other trains to pass through, thus Matsyagandha regularly irregular in timings. Just travel for once if you have not travelled before.
Please plan to introduce one or two more Mangalore - Mumbai Express train for the numerous public of Udupi & Dakshina Kannada district.
What about the Mangalore Railway Division. Please make a note, we the public will be OVERJOYED, so too in the next election you will be the sure winner.

My point is Padil being a crossing station no trains stops there at the moment. There is no basic amenties for passengers in padil station and on top of that this train reach there at 3.30 Am.. also its a secluded station with no facilities to commute.. i think they need to develop the station first and then think of halting train
