Dubai, Nov 18: The official social media page of the Dubai police on Monday carried a warning to motorists who jump the red-light.

Police investigations suggest that drivers run at excessive speed so they can cross before the light turns red, resulting in fatalities.

According to traffic officials, jumping the red signal leads to collisions with vehicles coming from other directions.

A fine of Dh1,000 and 12 black points will be charged for the motorist who would jump a red light. Along with the penalty, the registered vehicle will be impounded for 30 days. The fine for heavy vehicles for the same violation is Dh3,000 and suspension of licence for one year.
