MCC election: Holiday on Nov 12 for citizens to exercise franchise

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Nov 11: As Mangaluru City Corporation election is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, November 12, government has declared holiday to all schools, colleges, offices, government and private establishments in Mangaluru City Corporation limits, to enable voters to exercise their franchise.

The government has directed government and private sectors to provide leave with salary on November 12 to all permanent workers and temporary daily wage workers.

The leave does not apply to people employed in emergency services. Workers employed in emergency services should be permitted to vote at appropriate time as per convenience of the organisation. All the government employees deployed for election work are directed to be present for work.

A press release from the office of Deputy Commissioner states that public holiday is declared as per Negotiable Instruments Act 1881.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND UNDER WHAT SECTION, MCC HAS TAKEN THIS DECISION OF GRANTING FULL DAY PAID LEAVE, BOTH FOR GOVT. AND PVT EST., FOR "CORPORATION" ELECTIONS? ?

IT IS AN UTTERLY FOOLISH DECISION AND BLATANT WASTE OF TAXPAYERS MONEY!

AS FOR EMERGENCY PROFESSIONALS, EMPLOYEES SHOULD HAVE BEEN GRANTED AN HOUR'S LEAVE TO EXERCISE THEIR FRANCHISE!

BTW, WHO ON EARTH WILL PAY COOLIE WORKERS FREE WAGES???

Half the staff in Mangalore are not even from Mangalore city limits. Why do they need a holiday then? The government dosent realize the loss it creates to private companies . Government jobs get paid anyways even if they work half a day on regular basis. Stop giving unnecessary holidays !!

Declaring holiday is very simple for the Government employees.....The sufferers are private companies whose development and profit depends on the work output. Government employees are anyway paid even if they scratch their own B**ls and doing nothing.
