Bengaluru: Harshavardhan promises 1.5 lac health-wellness centres by 2022

Bengaluru, Sep 15: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harshavardhan announced establishment of 1.5 lac health and wellness centres across India by the end of 2022.

He was addressing a gathering of people including medical fraternity, Anganwadi workers and public at Kolar on Sunday, September 15.

Dr Harshavardhan flagged off the district level awareness Jatha on the features of the central Government's most ambitious project Ayushman Bharat.

The minister said the Prime Minister wishes to deliver a new and healthy India to the 1.35 billion Indians by 2022 with 1.5 Lakh health and Wellness centres all over the country.

With 21,000 centres already created in various parts of the country, the Minister said nearly 40,000 such centres will be created by the end of March 2020.

Ayushman Bharat has been appreciated with a lot of reverence not only by Indians but by the whole world.

He said it was a matter of pride for the nation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be one of the key speakers addressing the UN Global Discussion on Universal Health Coverage this year.

Kolar MP Muniswamy, MLA Srinivas Gowda, MLCs Narayana Swamy and Ravikumar, Deputy Commissioner J Manjunath and others were also present at the event.
