Mumbai: Two women drown at Juhu-Chowpatty beach

Mumbai, Jul 22:  In an unfortunate incident, two women including a minor lost their life because of drowning at Juhu Chowpatty beach. At around 5.56 pm on Sunday, Maya Mahendra (29) and Nisha Singh (15) from Sion ventured into the sea and where pulled in by the strong currents. 

The life guards reportedly warned the ladies against venturing into the sea. Though the life guards rescued the two at around 6.45 pm, they died.
 
 
Police inspector from Santacruz station, Shriram Koregaonkar said, ''They were stopped by the lifeguards at the chowpatty, but they argued with them and told that they regularly visit the sea. They were pulled inside and got drowned. The lifeguards tried their best to save them."
