KSRTC runs four new buses to facilitate travel disrupted due to strike by private operators

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SHP)

Bengaluru, Jun 24: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will run four additional buses for the Kerala to Bengaluru route. The reason for the same is stated as the strike by the private bus operators on Interstate route which commenced on Monday.

The four buses will run to Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kannur and Palakkad with the interstate permit. This permit allows the buses to run in different states.

An official said that there are over 25 buses which go to Kerala and another 25 which come back. The strike has resulted in huge demand for the buses on the return route. Here is where the challenge lies. Private buses connected four important places in Kerala and if the KSRTC would not step in, the passengers would be stranded.

The strike is technically to protest against the alleged harassment. It has been called by the Interstate Bus Operators Association of Kerala. The association said that they were forced to pay over Rs 10,000 ‘illegal fine’ per vehicle every day.
