Bengaluru, Jun 24: Almost all the districts in Karnataka got good rainfall. The rain also helped farmers living in parched districts to begin agricultural activities.

Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Belagavi, Mysuru, Kodagu, Haveri, Davanagere, Vijayapura and Bengaluru etc received rainfall. In some districts, the rain was coupled with lightning. Because of the fact that Ankola in Uttara Kannada district received 204 mm rainfall in 24 hours, water entered over 40 houses there. Chitradurga district however continues to pray for rain as rainfall this time has been woefully inadequate.

Anita Parameshwar Uppar (37) and her son, Bhagyavantha (14), were dragged away by water when they were crossing a canal that was in full flow at Harakooda in Basavakalyan. They were returning home from the agricultural fields when they lost balance when crossing the canal and met watery grave. While Bhagyavantha's body was found about a kilometre away,.the woman's mortal remains are yet to be found.

In the meanwhile, Devakka Channappa Doddannavar (65), who was grazing the goats, died after lightning struck her when grazing the goats in Lingadhala lvillage, Gadag district.
