Udupi: Former jailer of Hiriadka prison suspended

Udupi, Jun 24: Additional director general of police and inspector general of prisons, N S Megharikh, through an order, has suspended N S Shivakumar, erstwhile jailer of the district pison, from service for dereliction of duties.

The auditors who conducted audit of accounts maintained at the prison, had found irregularities in the books maintained by the prison authorities when Shivakumar was functioning as the in-charge superintendent of the district prison between 2012 and 2013. It was reported that Shivakumar had indulged in irregularities and misuse of power, which caused a loss of Rs 3,86,814 to the government.

Through an order dated June 21, the inspector general of prisons said that Shivakumar has been suspended with immediate effect pending departmental inquiry under Karnataka Civil Service Rules 1957.

    Not only dismissed but should have put in prison immediately.It is not a small amount.That money belongs to temple.
