Udupi: Poor lady gives birth in makeshift shelter, helped later by social worker

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS/HB)

Udupi, Jun 15: Vishu Shetty Ambalpady, a well-known social worker of the district, helped in getting a lady, belonging to nomadic tribe, who gave birth to a child in a make shift shelter, to the hospital.

On the morning of Saturday, June 15, Jalakka (24), native of Sirsi, who used to live in a small temporary shelter at Kodankoor open ground, was writhing in labour pain without any help and gave birth to a baby in the shelter itself.

Vishu Shetty, who came to know about the matter, rushed to the spot with an ambulance. The lady gave birth to a baby boy even before the medical personnel reached the spot. Later, the medical staff gave her first aid and admitted her to a maternity hospital.

Krishna, husband of the lady, had gone to work, even when the day of labour of the lady was fast approaching, in order to make ends meet. That is why the poor lady had to face a helpless situation.

These kind of incidents are very rare in the district as the workers of Asha programme cover most of the poor and destitute people. At present, both the baby and the mother are doing fine.

It is a very heartwrenching .There are so many labourers who doesnt have a real home and not having means to their health programm.somewhere they work, cook something ,eat sleep on roadside and nextday again same routine.when specially like this a delivery to face, still worse.because of this kind hearted helper she got into hospital.Dont we hear in Utterpradesh etc.they refuse ambulances to carry dead body or even to go to hospital? Our pathetic India has many problems.but hardly anyone bothers.Only votes sake they appear ,super politicians.
