Bengaluru: Aspirants worried as ministry expansion gets postponed

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 11: The ministry expansion that was slated to be held on Wednesday June 12, has been put off as the state government has declared a three-day mourning on account of the demise of celebrated dramatist and actor Girish Karnad. The expansion is now set to take place on Friday.

The government conveyed this information to the Raj Bhavan through a letter. The revised date and time are 1 pm on Friday June 14. It is said that the government chose 1 pm for the expansion as inauspicious period (Rahu Kalam) as per Hindu calendar that day prevails between 10.30 am and 12 pm.

Chief minister

The postponement of expansion has given rise to a sense of unrest and apprehension among those who were readying to be sworn in. Because during the two extra days, political upheavals may take place and rob them of the chance to become a minister, it is said.

Ministerial aspirants had met former chief minister, Siddaramaiah, on Monday. Reportedly, in-charge of Congress party affairs in the state, K C Venugopal, is expected to reach the city on Thursday.
