Raichur: Rape and murder of engineering student – CID begin investigations

Raichur, Apr 22: CID officials visited the spot and began investigations into the rape and murder case of engineering student here.

Four CID officials including DySP Ravishankar and CPI Dilip Kumar are collecting details. They conducted investigations on the hill behind Manik Prabhu temple from where the girl was reported missing. They later went to Raichur DySP office and continued investigations. Investigations in the leadership of CID SP Sharanappa will continue today. The CID team will be stationed in Raichur. They will obtain statement of the parents of the deceased girl today.

The incident

The decomposed body of the deceased girl was found on April 15. Police who saw the death note registered a case of suicide. But the mother of the girl submitted a police complaint that it is not suicide and the girl was raped and murdered. Therefore, the police arrested Sudarshan, the friend of the girl, and started investigations.

As there were calls for impartial investigations, DGP Neelamani Raju handed over the case to CID and ordered for investigations under the leadership of SP Sharanappa and Anup Shetty.
