Bangalore: "I am Rearing to Fight against Ashok Kheny" - Deve Gowda

Bangalore, Mar 22: Reacting to a statement made by Nandi Infrastrcutre Corridor Enterprises (NICE) chief Ashok Kheny that he would contest the Lok Sabha election against his sworn enemy H D Deve Gowda in Hassan, the JD(S) supremo said, he is prepared to accept the challenge. "Let Kheny choose the constituency as per his liking. I promise to enter the election fray from whichever constituency he opts for," he thundered.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday March 20, Gowda, who has a long-standing feud with Kheny over the Bangalore-Mysore Corridor Project that has failed to cease even after several reverses in the courts, claimed that he is not worried about getting an opponent in the form of Kheny. "He has lot of money earned through dubious means. I want the people to realize this," he added. Gowda also said that Kheny had given money to opponents of the JD(S) candidates including those who fought against Kumaraswamy and Revanna, in the last assembly election, claiming that that he is in possession of full details about these activities of Kheny.

"I vow to fight against NICE, which has been involved with a scam that puts even Satyam scam to shame,  as along as I am alive," Gowda stressed. He however, said that he respects the High Court verdict delivered on Thursday, allowing NICE to build the road across a tank, against which objection had been filed. "The High Court has questioned as to how the technical report suddenly made its presence in the case. The government wants the project to progress at high speed. Do they want the project to move fast just for pooling money for the election?" he questioned.

"So many people and forces are pitted against me. I am sure the people will give their verdict in my favour," he said. He also said that Kheny’s insolence is borne out of his riches.
