Pramod Muthalik Apologises for Mangalore Pub Attack

Press Trus of India

Bangalore, Jan 28: Shri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik today apologised for the attack on weekend revellers at a Mangalore pub, saying the way the right-wing group acted "was wrong" but insisted it was done to "save our mothers and daughters".

"The way has been wrong. I apologise for this. The way should not be like that. But it is our right to save our mothers and daughters," he said.

"Pub-culture is not our culture...Media should highlight and show the aim behind our act to the society," he said.

Muthalik denied his affiliation with the BJP and said he was only working for Hindutva.

"I am not connected with the BJP. We are working for Hindutva, to save Hindutva," he told a news channel.

Sriram Sena not a Sangh Pariwar outfit: BSY

"Sriram Sena has nothing to do with (Sangh) Pariwar, I am telling you honestly", Yeddyurappa told reporters. Asked if the Government would ban Sriram Sena, he said banning the outfit is not a solution.

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said the right-wing Sriram Sena blamed for the Mangalore pub assault incident is not a Sangh Pariwar outfit and asserted that stringent action will be taken against the culprits.

"Sriram Sena has nothing to do with (Sangh) Pariwar, I am telling you honestly", Yeddyurappa told reporters.

Asked if the Government would ban Sriram Sena, he said banning the outfit is not a solution. One has to look into its activities. Mangalore pub assault is an "unpardonable crime", he said.

"We will see whether we should ban or not. It will take its own time. We will discuss with police officers," he said.

Asked why Sriram Sena chief Pramod Mutalik was not arrested, the Chief Minister said the police would take into custody all those involved in the assault. The government would take strong action against the culprits irrespective of their religious and political affiliations, he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said "obscene dance" would not be allowed in night clubs -- be it in Bangalore or anywhere else in the State.

"We have no objection if people engage in activities without being disrespectful to the civilised culture and ethos of the land. Otherwise, we will take strict action against them," he said.

On media being asked by police to give information on the assault, Yeddyurappa said gathering information is the job of the police.

Police cannot demand information from the media, he said, adding it can only make a request to the media to cooperate.

If he wants to change the culture of India, let him go and rescue his " sisters" from prostitution  around the Nation. Why is he  not lifting his banner against it. Why he is entering into the bars and beating up women. The bars  are under government supervision and they pay tax. It is a legal business.

No Sir, Muthalik has not apologised for the attacks but he has merely said sorry for the 'method of attack', meaning that his goons would continue with their agenda of targetting girls who break the rules of 'Indian Culture'by dressing and behaving in a manner not approved by his narrow outlook!

There is a difference here- he is by no means apologetic for the crime committed but feels sorry for being caught. He dismissed the whole issue on National News channel as 'small incident' and showed his surprise that whole of India had opposed his grand method of 'preserving Indian culture. How can this criminal who does not think twice before assaulting others be allowed to live in a progressive society like India? And now he has been let out on bail of just Rs. 25,000 so that he can beat up some more people.

A crime is a crime for whatever reason one commits it and a criminal has to be put behind bars in a civilized society......

It’s nice to read comments from others. But, nobody is mentioning about the responsibilities of parents. Why parents don’t have control over their children (son or daughter? Why they can't put control or stop to their children going to bars and pubs? By going to these pubs and bars will their children become modern or intellectuals? No...Never...Alcohol is the enemy of our society. Parents should put control over their children, whatever the method may be. Blame should also go to those irresponsibile parents who appreciate their children going to these so called hi society bars and pubs.

The best social service one can do is cleaning up mangalore city, keeping it clean neat and tidy.Pick up garbages,do not allow the people to litter, spit, urinate on non designated areas, keep public toilets clean,do not spit pan..help the beggers if possible put them in hospitals and caring house you pay for their tratment!!! this is keeping the culture and making look mangalore clean and neat.If pubs are bad people know about it,they can take there own decsion,

Police is there to maintain law and order,if things go out of proportion,Parents are there for the children to guide, common just beating up is that the culture?or safe guarding the culture? There are sooooo many things one can do to improve the situation and to safe guard the culture!!!!Why do you want to safe guard the culture which you cannot see which you can only practice but hit the women and Girls which is against the same culture which you are talking about?

I have never seen anywhere in the world girls/women are being hit this way, its really a shame that we have this type of men in our country. All over the world, people have watched how these young girls have been hit. After watching this I am hurt very much, I always felt Indian men are understanding and caring but really I was wrong. In our country we have this type of men it’s a shame, I feel sorry for the women who gave birth to these type of men. May God have mercy on these animal type of men.

First each one of us should learn what is our religion and what it says then each individual will have respect for each other. In India every one says Jai Hind irrespective of their religion and nobody says Jai Muslim, Jai Christan, its only Jai Hind.

It's really annoying to see the same names again and again creating trouble. The US is having trouble dealing with the Taliban since it's outside it's borders but what's stopping our politicians to take on these Hindutva Talibani forces within our borders? All these politicians are hand in glove with the culprits, using them whenever they want and then distancing according to their convenience.

The hooligans are just a bunch of losers who never get any response from women in life and remove their frustration this way. Violence has surely increased since Yeddyurappa took over.

Who said in hinduthava girls should not drink in pub or restaurant? Is hindutava his  property.? He has no right... India belongs to people and not individual.... any one wants to enjoy as per their life style with out harming any one!! Who the hell he is? Why only men can go to ladies bar and enjoy?? Is that separate hindutava rule? In that case we should ban all movies where there is romance or club dances....isn’t?

We are in 21 st century and younger generation is the future not  60 and above who make decision for the country...of course we have to keep our respect when ever it required , but drinking in pub is o.k. with any body. What’s wrong in it...if girls drink @ hostel will any one comes to know.... its shame on their family….. Main reason is un employment and people has no job at all….. Government need to work hard and not attending functions……

He & his guy's should be brought in public & hanged for touching a lady. Ask them to see thier face in the mirror. Uncultured people who do not know to speak but use their hands. Mr.Yeddyurappa,First of all, would you please put to rest the doubts lingering in my mind as to who exactly make up the Sangh Pariwar? When Bajrang Dal takes law into it's hands, you distance yourselves from them. When Sri Ram Sene does the samething, you again disown them. So, God forbid, if RSS does something similar in future, I will have no doubt that you will do the samething again which will make me wonder what exactly is Sangh Parivar made of!!!

Is it BJP alone by any chance? Secondly, if pub is not your culture, I humbly request you sir, please stay far,far away from it. But, please don't impose your views on others. May be there are people out there who want to peek into other's culture (may be more civilised than yours) and imbibe into their culture what suits them best. Thirdly, kindly advise Mr. Muthalik if he feels that it is his duty to protect his mother, daughters and sisters, let him kindly do so. But may he be not compelled to do the same to other's mothers, daughters and sisters. They have their own family to do that for them.
