Mangaluru, Jan 24: A convention of beneficiaries under the extended Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojana - 2, which plans to provide free cooking gas connections to all eligible poor persons in the country, is being held at the ground near Narayana Guru Circle at B C Road from 10 am to 1 pm on Friday January 25.

Minster for petroleum, natural gas, skill development and entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, will take part in the programme. He will be releasing the second phase of the scheme to Dakshina Kannada district by distributing them to beneficiaries.

State minsiter, U T Khader, union minister for drinking water and sanitation, Ramesh Jigajinagi, MPs, Prahlad Joshi and Nalin Kumar Kateel as well as MLAs will take part in the programme.

After the scheme was announced on Jnauary 19, about 10,000 beneficiaries have registered themselves in the district under the scheme. Registration is open till January 25. Eligible beneficiaries can visit the spot, produce their ration card, Adhar number, details of family members, bank account details and a declaration containing 14 points to get cooking gas connection, said chief regional manager of HPCL, Ramesh Nataraj.
