Kundapur: Bike rider killed on spot in serial accident

Kundapur, Sep 23: In a tragic serial accident that occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, September 23 at Asodu, Kalaravara near here, a bike rider lost his life.

Gangadhara Acharya (42), a resident of Halady is the unfortunate victim who lost his life in this accident.

Gangadhara was travelling from Halady to Koteshwar on his bike at around 12.30 pm. When he reached the chicken farm near Asodu of Kalavar, a car that was moving in front of Gangadhar's bike applied the brakes all of a sudden as the driver of the car noticed a snake crossing the road. Due to the sudden application of brakes by the car, Gangadhar Acharya who was following it closely collided with it and was thrown on the road. At the same time, a car which was coming from behind drove on the bike as well as Gangadhar Acharya killing him on the spot.

Gangadhara Acharya was having a welding shop at Halady.

Helmet did not help the victim

Gangadhar Acharya always used to wear the helmet while riding the bike. However, the helmet did not save him during this accident as the car which was following him rode over him at high speed. His mortal remains are kept in the mortuary of the government hospital.

A case in this regard has been registered at Kundapur police station.
