Bengaluru, Sep 20: Through an order issued on Wednesday September 19, state governor, Vajubhai Vala, has appointed Dr S Rajendra Prasad as the vice chancellor of the University of Agricultural Scicces (popularly known as GKVK - Gandhi Krishi Vijnana Kendra campus).s

Rajendra Prasad belongs to Annoor village in Maddur taluk, Mandya district. So far he has brought out 295 scientific publications. He has so far worked as guide for seven PhD doctoral students and assisted 14 students pursuing MSc (agri) course. He has undergone high level training with fellowship in Thailand, Netherlands and Philippines about production of seeds. He was associated with over six international research institutes. He worked as president or member in over 13 international research institutions. In the capacity of president or secretary, he has bagged over six state and national level awards.

Rajendra Prasad has been the main researcher in over 18 research projects. He was the one who was instrumental in ensuring that an investment of a thousand crore rupees is pooled for schools and colleges towards infrastructure development. He currently has been functioning ast director of Indian Seeds Research Institute. He also happens to be the director of the agricultural university at present.
