Mysuru: Misuse of food grains in government godowns - deputy director suspended

Mysuru, Jul 18: Relating to misappropriation of food grains received under 'Annabhagya' scheme of the government from the godown at Nanjangud, deputy director in the district food and civil supplies, Dr K Rameshwarappa and two other employees stand suspended.

Rameshwarappa himself had reported to Nangud police about misappropriation of rice, grains etc worth about Rs 37 lac from the department's godown at Nanjangud. Thereafter, the department suspended complainant, Rameshwarappa himself, accusing him also of committing dereliction of duty. Manager of the godown, Mylarayya, and assistant, Basavaraju are the two others suspended in this scandal.

Rameshwarappa stated that being the deputy director of the department, he had so far filed criminal cases against ten people and sent many others to prison. He accused Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd and people nursing enmity toward him of using this case to settle scores against him.
