Bengaluru, Jun 21: Several senior IAS officers have expressed their unhappiness at the decision taken by the state government giving second extension of three months to state chief secretary, Ratna Prabha.

It is being largely perceived that the government decided to extend the term of Ratna Prabha by three months under pressure from leaders of the third front. Chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, approved the file in this regard, in the face of strong opposition from senior IAS officers.

Ratna Prabha was to retire on March 31 this year on attaining age of retirement, but in view of the fast approaching election, her service had been extended till June 30. Next in seniority list, T M Vijayabhaskar, who is additional chief secretary and development commissioner, D V Prasad, were the aspirants for this post. Prasad, grandson of former president, Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy is perceived to be having clout in Congress circles.

As per the current extension, Ratna Prabha's term stands extended till September 30 this year.
