Mangaluru, Jun 11: A two-day international conference on 'Smart computing communication control', the first by St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, was inaugurated by Dr L M Patnaik, adjunct professor and INSA senior scientist on Monday June 11.

The two-day International conference was organized with the help of four departments of the institution: department of computer science and engineering, department of electronics and communication engineering, department of electrical and electronics engineering and department of computer applications.

Emphasizing on the significance of the conference, Dr L M Patnaik said, "The conference plays a vital role as it gives opportunities for researchers and faculties to present their works. This kind of activity should be nurtured often so that one can present the papers and get the feedback that can help one to grow. The challenging part of hosting an international conference is to have a good discussion on relevant topics. I wish all the delegates participating in this conference best of luck."

Ramakrishna Bidri, senior agile coach - SWET CoE, Alliance technology unit, TCS Bengaluru was the chief guest. In his address, he said, "When I first joined this institution, the vision and mission that the college stood for looked very appealing to me. I am happy to be part of this conference where I can share my passion with the students and the institution that pioneers to fill the bridge between academics and industries, giving all kinds of exposure to the students."

Meanwhile SJEC director, Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza said, "We are hosting this international conference at SJEC with four departments of the institution on board. I congratulate the principal of SJEC, Rio D'Souza who took dynamic leadership of this conference, with timely planning and execution. SJEC has organized several national conferences but this is the first time we are organizing an international conference, and I hope the conference is a huge success."

Principal of SJEC Dr Rio D'Souza said, "Today is a historic day as the institution hosts its very first edition of its international conference on smart computing communication control. In SJEC, we always look for sustainability when getting into things and avoid jumping right into it. We have built the capacity and confidence among faculty and staff."

Conference conveners Sreenath Acharya and Gandhimathinathan welcomed the gathering and proposed vote of thanks, respectively.

Assistant director SJEC Rohit D'Costa was also present.

Smart Computing and Controls on the International status to be conducted at Vamanjoor is a good initiative on the part of SJEC. These kind of gatherings create an awareness to conduct group Conventions with some kind of International participation, and obviously brings new ideas for future improvement.

There are so many ways SJEC can create new incentives for the faculty members as well as students to become involved with International Forums and also invite various dignitaries from abroad to come and take part in the Conventions and share their ideas and thoughts for future prospects.

Please provide me with the correct email address of SJEC so that I may provide you some useful contacts that you may include in all your future gatherings, so that I too may try and publicize your various future activities and encourage many of my associates to take part in SJEC activities of Mangalore.

SJEC has to be a part and portion of the International blend so as to enjoy the benefit of all that is available to learn and listen from all those that exist outside the boundaries of Mangalore. .
