Udupi, May 27: Town BJP celebrated Vijayotsava celebrating the victory of Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat in the constituency here on Saturday, May 26 at Chittharanjan circle.

Addressing the gathering Raghupati Bhat said, “I would dedicate my victory to all BJP workers. It was a very challenging election for me from my candidature to the result. The party workers of 213 booths supported me and worked day and night. Some anti-BJP people created trouble, but the party successfully overcame the situation.

“This Vijayotsava is being celebrated for two reasons. First, that Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed four years successfully and second, that I became the MLA of Udupi. BJP should work for making Modi as prime minister for the second time. People elected me to make developmental works. This is a responsibility given by them to me. I will visit every ward to strengthening the party and will work for the betterment of Udupi.

“I won by 12,000 votes due to party workers’ hard work. The next target of town BJP is to make the city municipality council free of Congress. The impure coalition government will not stay for long time.

“People should support to win 35 out of 35 wards. If not, development of the city will become impossible. All BJP activists worked one and half years at booth level to get the victory in Udupi constituency. CMC election will fall between August and September. There is need to put special efforts to make BJP win in all wards.

“I will put my sincere effort in bringing in development. Late V S Acharya's soul will get satisfaction, only when BJP comes to power in CMC.

“People should write a letter to me on problems of their areas. I will attend and solve those problems. We are under Election Code of Conduct for Legislative Council at present. After that, in August, there will be Election Conduct of Conduct for CMC elections. Fulfilment of promises given in election manifesto is my duty. Modi must emerge as prime minister of India for the second time in the upcoming year,” he said.

Former MP Jayaprakash Hegde said, “Action plans should be made once after winning elections. When there is a strong opposition party, the ruling party should give attention to solve problems.”

Regarding sand mining problems, JP Hegde said, “If it was not possible to solve this problem in two years, how can it be possible in one month? There is need to discuss and study about what are the possibilities to extract sand from the sea.

“Sand mining is the biggest challenge. It is a problem of contractors and common people. Special attention must be given to solving the problems of fisherwomen,” he said.

District BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, town BJP president Prabhakar Poojary, zilla panchayat vice-president Dinakar Babu, zilla panchayat president Sheela K Shetty, Shyamala Kundar, Sandhya Ramesh, Nalini Pradeep Rao, Shreesha Naik, Yashpal Suvarna, Kappettu and Praveen Poojary were present.

BJP chief secretary Raghavendra Kini compered the programme.

A rally was carried out in the city prior to the Vijayotsava programme. The vehicle rally commenced from Parkala, Manipal- Kadiyali- Malpe- Thottam- Kadike-Thenkanidiyur-Ashirvad-Doddanagudde-Chakratheertha-MGM-Diana talkies-Beedinagudde-old taluk office-Kinnimulky-Balaipade-Kodavoor-Kadekar-Ambalpady- Brahmagiri-Ajjarkadu- taluk office- Court Road-Diana circle and concluded at Chittharanjan circle.

MLA Mr. Bhat must work toward completion of election promises quickly. If I am not wrong, he had mentioned that he would see that Malpe - Udupi four lane work is completed in one year if elected besides fixing Manipal-Permpalli road. If he can get this completed in one year or at least get started within a year, then, he can focus on other development works. Because of the fragile nature of current Karnataka politics, there is no guarantee that the current government will last 5 year term and hence, getting projects off the ground quickly is important.
