Mangaluru: Man ends life by jumping into Shambhavi river

Mangaluru, May 27: In a tragic incident which happened near Shambhavi bridge at Bappanadu, Mulky on national highway 66 on Saturday May 26, a man jumped into the river and ended his life.

Babu Devadiga alias Ashok (54), residing near the Mulky government hospital at Karnad committed suicide in this way. Ashok was working abroad for several years before settling down in his native place sometime back. He used to work as security staff for a jewellery store at Udupi.

It is gathered that the victim had celebrated his 23rd wedding anniversary a couple of days back. On Saturday morning, he left home under the pretext of going to his workplace. Instead of going to Udupi he directly reached the bridge built across Shambhavi river and jumped into the river.

His mortal remains were recovered from the river on Saturday evening. The deceased is survived by wife and two daughters.

Mulky police have registered a case. Postmortem was performed at the community health centre, Mulky.
