Bengaluru: Kumaraswamy’s advice to seer to keep away from politics draws flak

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 26: Chief Minister (CM) H D Kumaraswamy who had indirectly launched an attack on Sanehalli Taralabalu Math pontiff Panditaradhya Shivacharya Swami, advising him to stop indulging in politics, says he is ready to apologize if his remark has hurt any seer.

The seer had allegedly shown displeasure regarding the coalition government and Kumaraswamy at his maiden press meet as chief minister on Wednesday, lashed out at the seer without taking seer’s name.

In retaliation, the seer wrote a letter to the CM rebuking him for his ‘loose talks’. Kumaraswamy was also criticized by the BJP for his comment against the seer.

Kumaraswamy has agreed to apologize to the seer if he has done anything wrong. However, he still stuck to his stand saying, “I only appealed to few seers not to indulge in politics. I respect all seers and if my comments have hurt anyone, I am ready to apologize. However, I will not take anyone lightly and expect no one to take my government lightly,” he said.

He also added that so far he has not received any letter from any pontiff.

A good stand by the current CM. Congress must respect JDS and build a strong understanding to govern the state with all truth and fairness to develop Kannadigas and Karnataka. This is an opportunity. There should not be deviation between parties or religion or cast or creed. Everyone, including the opposition must feel the development and good work. Who will oppose any good developmental works??

But the seers have the Central Government sponsored right to attack the Karnataka Government.

Good policy. In our Kannada No.1 state, religious people belonging to other religions do not involve in politics...why should hindu priests involve in politics?

Likewise politicians too are expected to keep themselves away from religion, which also includes not indulging in any kind of divisive policies and caste based appeasements.

    @John,

It's unfortunate, politicians have made religion as their main agenda for running for office, dividing people, creating hatred, and not focusing on issues that have socioeconomic benefits for India.

It is even more unfortunate people in Karnataka voted on the same basis, and are now realizing their folly.

Let religious do religious job and let politicians do politicians job.
Let there be interaction when necessary without much interference and not do each others duty. Both are specialized to do their job well.

Let religious work to build good character in the society and harmonious society.

Let politicians take the help of economists and take measures to reduce Petrol / diesel prices, inflation, improvement of law and order, employment etc.

Kumaraswamy may be right in this case, but before swearing ceremony why he has to visit dozens of holy places. We should stop this nonsense of mixing politics and religion. Taking blessing there is nothing wrong but wasting time in roaming around between churches, temples mosques etc., is totally unwanted for the leader of any state or that matter any leaders.

By visiting holy places, one is trying to appease people or please God. How many won the elections by doing this is a simple example.

Dear Samantha. Sorry, its JDS . Kumarsawamy Sir has the right to practice his religion. Its nothing new. And Cong has got a lease of life. What is your take when your Cong president is on a temple run in every state with full media glare , while campaigning. The Congis are quiet about that.

@CT.Thomas,mangalore,it is not only congress men but almost everyother political men go there.well, praying is good, but they seem to go to pray only during their voting time mostly?second they know very well through Godmen ,and some offer ,might be possible to influence, more temple visitors.Seers might give tip to vote a certain person? What Kumaranna said is fully right.Seers or Math people are left back worldly things and do more pooja.Thatswhy they shouldnt mingle in politic,if at all do some social work to aid poor ones but not active mixing. The more step into politic, greed of money, and social stepping to a higher position is always there.

What is your problem if Mr Kamath visits Bishop or Swami o Mulla.as ppl representative he has every right to visit in his constituency.why you feel bad or try to find fault in that.
Coming to the statement made by CM in India every individual whether he is a seer or bishop or mulla has every right to do politics as per the "Constitution"

these countries wel come all relegions nd respect. THEY never conduct election on religion based, BUT on development nd achivement based.
if u take just hindutva in future nd restrict so many terms, NO FROEIGNER WILL BE visited.
india will become somalia or syria no doubt.
we need a pm who loves all nd rule in development , not making MOCKERY OF DEMOCRACY.
