Sullia: Accident near Subrahmanya - six including four children serious

Sullia, Apr 23: Six persons including four children suffered serious injuries after a Tempo Traveller vehicle and Tata Indica car got involved in a head-on collision at Injady near Subrahmanya on Sunday April 22.

In this accident, four children and their parents suffered serious injuries. On account of non-availability of ambulance, the injured remained at the spot for over half an hour. The injured persons have been identified as Harish (47), his wife, Rashmi (36) and children, Rohit (7), Subrahmanya (11), Kishen (13) and Poorvi (13). The family of Harish is based in Mysuru. A few travellers who were in the Tempo Traveller vehicle suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Although a call was made for the ambulance, the ambulance of Subrahmanya, it was informed, was out of station. There was worry as inordinate delay could turn the situation for the worst. Nityananda Mundody, president of Subrahmanya temple managing committee, who was passing by for some work, saw the situation and immediately called the temple and asked the temple ambulance to be pressed into service. The ambulance immediately came and helped shifting of the injured to a private hospital at Puttur.
