Mangaluru, Mar 31: Devotion was in the air as thousands of Christians flocked to churches across the diocese to partake in the Easter Vigil Mass heralding the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Holy Week which began with Palm Sunday, culminates with the Easter Sunday. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday marked the passion of Christ and crucification, respectively.

The Easter Vigil Masses were attended by thousands of faithful in their respective parishes.

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza led the Easter vigil mass at Rosario Cathedral starting from blessing of Pascal candle which signifies the victory of light over darkness. He also blessed the fire and holy water before the Holy Eucharist began. Fr J B Crasta, Fr Vincent D'Souza, Fr Rocky Fernandes and Fr Anil Fernandes were concelebrants.

The congregation in all the churches lit Pascal candles. They chanted the psalms and scriptures. The church organ, which was silent in the Lenten season, was brought to life by the sonorous choirs.

The Feast of Easter comes and goes each year making us feel younger each year with the wonderful memories of the past. We have come a long way for decades of life to be away from Mangalore, but the memories of the past are vivid and howsoever humble life of the past, those were still good days to remember and reflect upon all the good tidings that have passed by our lives.

Above all the great memories that we can dwell of the past, it is those little things, simple and humble things that make us feel proud and joyful. Good old days are the best days to recollect and feel proud.
Happy Easter to one and all.
