Mangaluru: Red FM Tulu Film Awards - 'Pilibail Yamunakka' wins top honours

Mangaluru, Mar 25: Glitz and glamour ruled the stage as the best in Tulu film industry were recognized at the third season of 'Red FM Tulu Film Awards 2018' held at Karavali Utsav grounds here on Saturday March 24.

The sparkling event was inaugurated by Kannada playback singer Gurukiran.

The Best Actress award was bagged by Chirashree Anchan for ‘Pavithra’, Best Actor award was bagged by Pruthvi Amber for ‘Pilibail Yamunakka’, Best Film award went to ‘Pilibail Yamunakka’, and Best director award was won by Sooraj Shetty for ‘Pilibail Yamunakka’. The Lifetime Achievement award was conferred on M K Seetharam Kulal, Versatile Actor award was bagged by Naveen D Padil.

"I am happy to be a part of this award ceremony. I have close connection with the Tulu film industry. Thirty years ago I had sung a song for a Tulu movie. Today Tulu film industry is growing with quality movies coming in. Several talents from Mangaluru are making big in the Kannada film industry. Coastalwood has given several talented actors to other film industries too," Gurukiran said.

Actor-director Rishab Shetty addressing the gathering said, "This award ceremony is a recognition of the Coastalwood industry which has been standing tall for the last 40 years. Creative movies are coming up in Tulu language where lots of local talents are emerging too. I wish more quality movies come up in this industry. Award is always a special one and it encourages us and increases our responsibility to do good movies and entertain cine goers."

Former minister Krishna J Palemar said, "This award ceremony has encouraged the young actors by recognizing their talents."

Chairman of Alva's Education Foundation Dr Mohan Alva, MD of Ideal Ice-cream Mukund Kamath, chairman of Martins group Martin Paul, Nishan Shet and others were present during the colorful award ceremony.

The award ceremony witnessed dazzling performances by Coastalwood celebrities such as Chirashree Anchan, Anoop Sagar, Aradhya Shetty, Anvitha Sagar and Prithvi Ambar. There was a special performance by Jnana Ithal, Hejjenaada Dance Academy, Playback singers Prakash Mahadevan and Roopa Prakash, Vismaya Vinayak and team, Ashok Polali, Ocean Kids; Gladiators dance crew, Team Velocity Dance Crew and Aryans Dance Academy.

VJ Vineeth and Soujanya Hegde compered the event.
