Moodbidri: Wardens thrash students with sticks in Alva’s College, injured

Daijiworld Media Network - Moodbidri (SP)

Moodbidri, Mar 18: It is gathered that hostel wardens of Alva’s College in the town thrashed PU college students with sticks. Reportedly, the incident happened in Alva’s hostel at Pushpagiri here and those who were attacked were PU students.

The incident happened on Saturday, March 17.

It is learnt that differences had arisen between the students and wardens over certain issues. There is accusation that the students were hit indiscriminately by the wardens for frivolous reasons. Nearly 20 students are understood to have suffered injuries in the incident, with 2 of them sustaining serious injuries. They are taking treatment at Alva’s hospital here. Other 18 students took first aid and medical treatment.

As per the details available, after the second PU exams were over on Saturday, some students complained that the food was not good at the hostel. There were some arguments over the issue between students and staff of the hostel. The warden named Rajesh accompanied by some other wardens made a list of 20 students and called them out later at night. All these students were allegedly beaten up by the wardens.

As the affected students were not allowed to go out from the campus since the incident took place, they were unable to contact the media, Daijiworld managed to speak to some of the students who narrated their ordeal. They said warden Rajesh is always seen drunk every night. They also provided the photos of liquor bottles in his room.

More details are awaited.

Put it ... If you are Concerned...

Hostel and College bus facility should be abolished. Sounds Strange Right ? !!! Yes.

College is for providing Education. Giving Shelter or Transportation should not be their problem. Since all colleges were decided to shoulder the responsibility (for the mutual benefit) of providing bus facility, the problems of existing transportation system is never been solved. You can see the people hanging like bats in private buses. You can see Govt buses plying without passengers.

As I told the college bus is for mutual benefit. Yes. Education became a huge business and managements were ready to do anything to grab maximum students to their colleges. One can see the face gesture of students in college buses as if they are going to college for the sake of the management benefit !!!! Teachers in these colleges were already became servants. They lost respect a long back. The present education system looks like colleges took contract from the parents in bringing degrees to their children. Am I wrong ?

    Future is horrible.

I want to see a case registered and wardens arrested. Next time ABVP gets into street with silly reason, remind them their failure to support these students! End of the day, they are blind protesters .... protest to bunk classes only. Future political aspirants.....at the cost of bright career.

On Saturday afternoon, Alvas students after completing their exams in Mahaveera Colleage, littered the entire stretch from Mahaveera Colleage to Moodbidri bus stand by tearing their books. Moodbdiri citizens stopped their buses in moodbidri and made sure they clean the mess. Other than whatsapp, I didn't see this anywhere else.

In most of the countries whipping/beating students is an offence and can be punished under the law of land. Especially, in GCC countries. Here the Wardens went beyond any ethics and humanity. They should be prosecuted and dismissed from their profession. Some can be absorbed in Kambala racing event to run along with the Buffaloes. Victory is guaranteed.
