Bengaluru: Next action in pub attack case after consulting legal team - Ramalinga Reddy

Bengaluru, Mar 15 (PTI): The next course of action in the Mangaluru pub attack case in which all the accused were acquitted by a court would be taken in consultation with the state's legal team, Karnataka minister Ramalinga Reddy said today.

Rightwing fringe group Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik and several others were recently acquitted for lack of evidence.

"We will take a decision in the pub attack case after consulting our legal team, which includes our Advocate General," the Home minister told reporters here.

Over 30 Sri Ram Sene activists had allegedly barged into a pub on January 24, 2009, in Mangaluru and assaulted some women and men, claiming they were violating traditional Indian values.

The incident had triggered national outrage after the video clip of the attack went viral.

To a query, Reddy said the government is continuing to give police protection to Muthalik "because of the threat he received long back."

Reddy said there has been no progress in the investigation into the M M Kalburgi assassination case.

Kannada writer and rationalist Kalburgi was shot dead at his residence by two unidentified assailants in August 2015.

On journalist Gauri Lankesh murder case, Reddy said, "We will disclose details as and when we get information in this regard."

The 55-year-old Lankesh, known as an anti-establishment voice with strident anti-right wing views, was shot dead at her home on September 5 last year.

On March 9, police had arrested alleged gunrunner KT Naveen Kumar, who was taken into police custody on March 2 for questioning in connection with the case.

Asked about a letter written by Additional DGP R P Sharma to Chief Secretary Ratna Prabha, Reddy said, "It is an illegal letter... I don't want to answer... ask the chief secretary."

In his letter, Sharma had highlighted "serious chink in the armour" of the state's security, triggering a political slugfest with BJP targetting the ruling Congress.

I am not lean to any of Political party. But in assumption Congress 'soft approach' has embolden the criminals affiliated to the Sangh Parivar.
In Karnataka first they made under the table deal with Ramachandrapura Mutt Swami in disciple rape and murder case. Swami himself is identified with BJP's national agenda 'Gau Raksha'.

In NAMO founder Naresh Shenoy case with the interference of powerful local Congress leader he got bail in RTI activist murder case even before taking Narco analysis test. Accuse Namo Naresh believed to be front runner looking for tickets contest from Mangalore.
In rationalist Kalburgi case, the investigation has never moved from Home Minister table.

In the national level during UPA II party has closed door meeting with then PM Manmohan Singh with RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat just months before Late Hemant Karkare is about table is report on 'Saffron terror'. Soon after Mumbai attack followed, Karkare got killed while his driver survived and report is thrown under the carpet and all the accused got clean chit thereafter.

If Congress was never serious about the internal security of this nation and always played 'soft corner'. If there is strong 'anti- communal law' bill nobody would have got elected to be Prime Minister with nearly 2000 murders.

Now Mangalore 'Pub attack' case when the whole world is watched, for Judge Manjunath the attack victim presence in the court is important but no the evidence matters.

Legal team is next step. What about the women security Dear Home Minister?

What action you take ? After election God only knows who takes action on whom ? If Congress back to power there will be again plotting/fixing game plan and many arrests for no reason... If BJP comes to power, no one will raise this issue and keep quite.... If chow chow baath.... Some say re-open the case others say give me some crore to do such action or I will quit.... You will take the decision when? Actually Congress too want the divide in the society so that they can utilize this for their vote bank advantage. Both the parties either Congress or BJP their principles are same.
