Mangaluru: Shivaraj murder - Police arrest absconding accused

Mangaluru, Feb 24: The police on Saturday February 24 arrested one more accused in connection to the murder of Shivaraj that happened last month.

Manoj alias Guddekoppala Manoj (39), a resident of Suratkal, was arrested in a joint operation by Panambur and Mangaluru north anti-rowdy squad.

Shivaraj was murdered early morning on January 22 when he was sleeping on the terrace of his brother's house in Tannirbavi. Unidentifid assailants had to come to the house and hacked him to death.

The police have already arrested 10 persons in connection to the case, and now with the arrest of Manoj, the figure has risen to 11. Manoj had gone absconding soon after the crime.

Police said that Manoj was one of the persons who instigated the murder and also supported the main culprits involved in the crime.

The arrest operation was conducted under the directions of police commissioner T R Suresh, and under the guidance of DCPs Hanumantharaya and Uma Prashant.
