Mangaluru: Snehalaya organises ‘Reunite with family’ programme

Mangaluru, Feb 19: ‘Reunite with family’ programme was held at Snehalaya psycho-social rehabilitation centre on February 16.

A K M Ashraf Manjeshwar, block panchayat president, Roy Castelino, former president Konkani Sahithya Academy, Moosa, ward member, and Dr Uday Kumar, founder, Sathya Sai Ashram, Daigoli were present as chief guests for the function. They wished the best to 13 people to reach their family safely and bright future.



As many as 13 inmates of Snehalaya namely Roshan, Shivaji, and Ram from Maharashtra, Doya and Santhosh from Orissa, Naveen, Pintu Rawanth, and Raju from Uttar Pradesh, Happy Singh from Haryan, Govinda West Bengal, Rama Krishna from Andhra Pradesh, Razak and Jagdeesh from Bihar. They started their journey to Mumbai at 1.00 pm. They were transferred from Snehalaya to Shraddha Rehabilitation Foundation, Karjat, Raigad district, Maharashtra.

Shraddha Rehabilitation Foundation was founded in the year 1988, to deal with mentally ill destitute wandering aimlessly on the streets of India. Shraddha has picked up, treated and successfully reunited over 6,500 mentally ill roadside destitute with their families.

MAPS College students and faculty organized speech and hearing camp at Snehalaya on the occasion. Br Joseph Crasta welcomed the gathering and the vote of thanks was rendered by Rajesh. Jacintha Pereira compered the programme.
