Kundapur, Jan 17: Byndoor block BJP president Sadananda Uppinakudru has condemned the arrest of Gururaj Kharvi, with regard to the incidents of bike torching in the area.

Sadananda said that the arrested is an innocent youth belonging to fishermen community. He further said that the youth was arrested after sprinkling petrol on his clothes when he was sleeping at home saying that ‘you are the one who has set fire to the bikes’. “The man was arrested instead of the real culprit after bowing to pressure from PFI and Congress party,” he said.

“The police are harassing those who are going for fishing at night after this incident. BJP strongly condemns the arrest as the real suspect was spared. BJP will resort to violent protests and jail bharo if the case is not withdrawn immediately.

“IPC 307, a section which is slapped usually for attempt to murder and such other serious crimes is slapped in this case. But nobody has complained about assault in this connection. Therefore, it appears that it is a systematic conspiracy by the state government to suppress Hindus. Gururaj is neither a member of any political party nor any organization. Therefore, he should be released immediately and harassment of those who go for fishing should be stopped,” he said.

Byndoor BJP block chief secretary Deepak Kumar Shetty, vice-president and Gujjadi panchayat president Harish Mestha were present.
