Udupi, Nov 16: A state level ‘Science Talent Search’ competition is being planned to be organized by Moodlakatte Institute of Technology, Kundapura, one of the premier institutions in Udupi district on December 16, for science students of PU colleges in Karnataka, informed programme coordinator Dr Arun Kashi in a press meet held at Brahmagiri here on Wednesday, November 15.

“The main objective of this event is to showcase the talents of the students. The competition includes science and technology quiz, essay writing on science themes and project exhibition. The winner of the first, second and third place will be given cash and trophies. MIT Kundapura is providing a broad platform for students to show their skills and innovation,” he said.

The cash prize for first and second place in essay writing on science themes and project exhibition is Rs 15,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively.

The cash prize for first and second place in quiz Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000 respectively.

Other winners will get attractive prizes.

The preliminary quiz competition will be conducted in 100 respective PU colleges campus. MIT institution is expecting 1,000 students to participate in the event.

Rules are as below

Science and Technology Quiz - The question set contains 30 questions with equal scores to be answered in 20 minutes, covering the topics of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Basics of Computes, Science and Technology Scenario of India.

Project Exhibition - This event is for exhibiting and demonstrating working projects in any field of Science and Technology. The evaluation is based on innovativeness of the project, feasibility and cost effectiveness of the project, presentation skills, answering skills and applications of the project.

Essay writing on Science and Technology Theme - The Essay writing on Science and Technology Theme in English Language or Kannada Language is of one hour 30 minutes duration for maximum words of 1000. The participants will get the theme half an hour before the scheduled time of the start of the competition.
