Kuwait, June 6:  As a part of GULF VOICE OF MANGALORE reality Konkani Singing Competition ‘Youth Recreation Centre” (Rising Stars), Kuwait conducted auditions to select best 12 singers for semifinals scheduled on 16th October 2008.

The auditions and preliminary rounds of the contest were held on Friday, 6th June, 2008, at Avanthi Palace Restaurant Hall, Salmiya. 12 (Twelve) best singers were selected on this day by a local preliminary judging panel for the Semi-finals contest.  Basic music with guitar was provided by the organizer for the participants who were not accompanied by their own guitarists.

The program started with welcome and small prayer by the compere of the event Roshan D’Silva.  Kuwait’s well known personalities in music field Francis D’Souza and Joe D’Souza were the juries of the day.  After the introduction of Juries competitions held with solo singing.  The numbers were given by selecting in lots.

During the event the main organizers Lawrence Pinto and Louis Rodrigues were present.  The whole event was captured by both still and video camera by www.daijiworld.com for record purpose.

Following are the 12 contestants selected for semifinals.

Congratulations Thelma I am very happy for you, I was so excited!!!. To read the results and see your name. I saw you perform at many functions. Last week end I just bought your devotional CD and I loved it. I am graduating from engineering college this year and your songs remind me that I need to seek God’s will for my life as I make decisions about where to go further. Thank you so much for your voice and for your time spent for music. Wishing you best of Luck and hoping to see your name in glitters.
