Bantwal, Sep 25: Two youths were fatally attacked by a group of five at Farangipet here on the night of Monday September 25.

The deceased have been identified as Zia, a resident of Adyar, and Fayaz.

The miscreants reportedly attacked Zia, Fayaz and others with swords near a hotel at Farangipet at around 11.20 pm.

Three others sustained severe injuries in the clash. Two of them identified as Hameez and Mushtaque have been admitted to hospital and are in the ICU.

Ziya (L) and Fayaz

Zia died on the spot, while Fayaz passed away in hospital later in the night.

It is learnt that attackers, who were five in number came by Innova, and waylaid Zia's vehicle and attacked him and the others.

A constable who was on duty nearby rushed to the spot and succeeded in saving one of the persons and secured him at his outpost.

The attackers are said to be rowdy-sheeters from Kannur area. Their identities are yet to be ascertained.

It is learnt that some old rivalry was behind the attack.

The slain Ziya alias Riyaz had been arrested along with six others for the murder of one Ijaz at Kannur in 2014. Ijaz had been killed as a revenge for the murder of Sannaputta alias Abdul Rahiman in 2012.

Three police teams are on the lookout for his assailants.

While Daya Nayak became popular as an encounter specialist, we shouldn’t forget Julio Riberio, the super cop who was Police Commissioner in Mumbai in the 80s. He too had played a crucial role in dismantling a number of underworld gangs.

Once upon a time there used to be gang fights with fist or kicks to avenge the other gang members and now swords or pistols to take revenge. Butcher culture is in practice and it is going to be too dangerous for ordinary people to sustain life among such rowdy sheeters. Enmity leads to destruction or death.
I think there was a similar case in Adyar few years back where someone was butchered in the Saloon.
What a way of avenging, blood for blood !

FYI, Swords, razors, choppers, soda bottles etc. were the norm in gang wars in Mumbai in the mid 70s to 80s until firearms took over!!

Its too early to decide. Let police investigate. Nowadays if victim is minority then media will first declare him rowdy without any evidences. Its happened in Ashraf Kalai case also. But later media silently apologized for it.
But if he is from Majority then even if he is rowdy then they will portray as a saint,.

What rubbish? Has any society in the world become crime-free by getting rid criminals through murder?
Tit-for-tat murders in the crime world is merely an indicator that law enforcement agencies have failed to uphold the rule of law.
There is nothing to take pride of the current situation.

    Edward
If you look closely, there is tendency to blame Modi even when a cattle thief is thrashed, as if Modi personally called the go-rakshak to beat up those rogue thiefs. .. Why not Cm HM take responsibility here?

Excess hatred towards that man Modi has made some people to blame him even for early morning constipation.. Now it is payback time.. LOL
