Mangaluru: Police raid district prison - confiscate mobiles, ganja

Udupi, Sep 19: Police on Tuesday morning raided the district prison and confiscated mobile phones, ganja and pen drive.

The raid was conducted between 6.30 to 7.30 am. The seized items include two mobile phones, three sharp items, one pen drive, two hukka type plastic bottles, mobile charger, electric wire and extension cord.

The operation was led by DCP (Law) Hanumantharaya. 129 police personnel with many officers were involved in the raid.

Police said this was a routine raid and more raids will be conducted every now then to stop the unauthorized and illegal items reaching inmates.

    I think there is NO SECURITY check for the visitors or other personnel those who are visiting the JAIL
    during the visiting hours or etc.

    Like airport there should be Security Check in the Entrance gate. Needless to say there are some PARTNERS IN CRIME for this type of activities.

    As i heard from neighbor's near to jail area ( early morning some come & throw parcel from road over big wall to inside jail) ... they put jammer in jail but how mobile works still....??? jammer only troubled people who live in surrounding to jail area....
