Mangaluru, Sep 18: The Mini Vidhana Soudha at BC Road is expected to be inaugurated in the first week of October by chief minister Siddaramaiah, said district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai.
He was addressing a meeting with other officials at the DC's office here on Monday September 18. During the meeting, the minister discussed the progress of development works that are coming up in Bantwal taluk.
"The Mini Vidhana Soudha building is being built at a cost of Rs 9.98 crore. Even the work on KSRTC bus stand is in the final stage. The bus stand is being built at a cost of Rs 10.7 crore and will be completed in 10 days," Rai said.
"The inspection bunglow at a cost of Rs 3 crores and MESCOM building at a cost of Rs 5.16 crore are also in the final stage of construction and will be completed soon. A 100-bed Bantwal taluk hospital at a cost of Rs 6.15 crore will be completed soon. The multi village drinking project costing Rs 34.95 crore to provide drinking water for 65 villages in Bantwal and water treatment plant of 24.16 MLD have got administrative approval from the government and foundation stone for these projects will be laid by chief minister Siddaramaiah.
"The government has sanctioned Rs 1.66 crore for the construction of Panje Mangesharaya Smaraka Bhavana. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 5 crore," he said.
He also said that a three-day state level chess tournament will be held from October 10 to 12 under the aegis of St Aloysius School. Nearly 680 participants will take part in this tournament, which will have 68 judges including five national-level judges.
Deputy director of public instruction (DDPI) Y Shivaramaiah urged full-fledged support of the MCC and other departments to make the tournament a success.
MCC mayor Kavita Sanil, additional deputy commissioner Kumar and others were present.
