UAE: St Joseph's Konkani Community (SJKC), Abu Dhabi celebrates Nativity fest

Abu Dhabi, Sep 8: St Joseph's Konkani Community (SJKC), Abu Dhabi parish, celebrated 'Monthi Fest' on September 8 at St Joseph’s Cathedral, Abu Dhabi in a very grand manner. More than 1,800 Konkani speaking Catholics attended.

The celebration began at 6.45 pm with children showering of flowers to Mother Mary, Blessing of new corn which was specially flown from Mangalore and followed by festal high mass celebrated by main celebrant Fr Clifford Fernandes, St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore and concelebrated by Fr Valerian Fernandez from Bishop’s House and Fr Rodson Goes, Spiritual Director of the Konkani Community.

After the mass, some donors were honored by the spititual director. Blessed new corn was distributed to the members.

All the community members attended for an entertainment program soon after the mass at the Church open air stage. During the program the guest priest Fr Clifford Fernandes, spiritual director Fr Rodson Goes and SJKC Committee coordinator Leo Rodrigues were honored with a bouquet. Community students scoring more than 75% marks in X and XII standard were felicitated.

Reena Pinto conducted the proceedings as MC. After the vote of thanks, traditional noven jevaan was served with the new corn.
