Updated

Mangaluru, Jul 8: In yet another incident of stabbing, a youth was attacked by two men at Kuthar here on the night of Saturday July 8.

Chiranjeevi (24) was attacked by a group of unidentified persons at Amblamogaru near Kuthar.

It is learnt that Chiranjeevi was riding home after a workout in the gym when three persons, one of whom was wearing a helmet, on a black Pulsar bike came behind him and attacked him twice on the head with swords. The assailants then fled the spot.

Sources said that he was attacked at a deserted spot at Majalthota. Thereafter, with no one around to help, Chiranjeevi himself rode his bike towards Kuthar and collapsed. His friends then admitted him in the hospital

Chiranjeevi is said to be an RSS activist, but others said he belongs to Bajrang Dal. However, yet another source claimed that he did not belong to any right-wing outfit or organization, and that he was attacked simply because his bike had a sticker with a God's name.

Tense atmosphere prevailed at the spot following the attack.

A person known to Chiranjeevi said that a black Scorpio with weapons in it was seen in the vicinity since evening, and expressed suspicion that the persons in the Scorpio may be involved in the crime.

Some months ago, RSS activist Rammohan was attacked at this same spot. It is suspected that the persons who attacked him may be involved in this case too.

Police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP, ACP and Ullal police personnel visited the crime spot as well as the hospital.

Hospital sources said that Chiranjeevi is out of danger.

Ullal police are investigating.

This is a case of playing with the fire and getting burnt. There is a saying "if you play by the sword, be prepared to die by one". This is a Bajrang and RSS activist. These people have taken the law into their own hands - they form the crux of cow brigades and moral brigades etc. Much as I hate violence., these thugs have to be reined in. They are not the law and they are not empowered to enforce the law. They are no more an Indian than a protesting Kashmiri. So in a way they have to pay for their misdeeds. I am not a Muslim or a christian, but a Hindu and these are my views. I hate the direction my country is taking i.e., from a avowed position of secularism to one that is on paper only

    Dear people, please remember

    1. Wise politicians exploit innocent people for political gains.

    2. Even if you join any party or group, don't lose your individuality. That is when these politicians exploit you.

    3. If you love your religion, try to bring your religion up. And bringing it up is nothing but uplifting the people there. Bring awareness among people and help poor students. Even religious leaders need awareness sometimes.

    4. And if you cannot do something good for your religion, at least don't bring it down by involving in anti social activity in the name of religion.

    5. Finally I love justfulness over any religion.

One thing, that can be observed here over the killings in DK for the past couple of months, is that either the victims or attackers belong to some or the other political outfit. In India where employment is a big issue, as scores of youngsters are jobless, even after getting a degree, these youths are lured into these political organizations, with promise of some or the other help, then slowly they get involved in all sorts of dirt that these political organizations are into. These youths will now have to introspect themselves now into what activities they are into, otherwise these killings will continue.

Sri, that is exactly why the stabbing is taking place. Only intention is to destabilize congress government and brainwash people against congress. Now you got my point, who is behind all this ? Who will benefit from this ? Mr. Rai was cent per cent right in calling for arrest of venom spilling leaders who hide in the rat hole and push forward innocent youths as sacrificial lamb. Ban all Hindu and Muslim Dal, Vedike, Front etc. If anyone has problem, it should be redressed through police and judiciary. We do not need organizations which take law in to their own hands. Jai Hind, Jai Karnataka.

As a first step, police should check vehicles with defective and false number plates as goons use this to avoid detection, this would include vehicles having temporary number plates with small font size letters.
Instead of section 144 which does not serve any purpose, vehicles should be also checked for anything that can be used as a weapon.
I can suggest more measures if these do not work. Gujarat had communal riots every 4 years but now for the last 15 years there has not been a single communal incident. If you do not want Karnataka to turn into Kashmir, follow the Gujarat model.

I have great respect for the two who took Sharath to the hospital. Once I was asked for help at night to take an unwanted relative to the hospital. I refused as they were involved in such anti social activities. If I need a bunch of fools to protect my religion then there is something wrong in my religion. Put trust on God and respect each other. Simple as that.

So many foolish comments. You want police and politicians to protect you. Remember you people of Mangalore are just as much responsible for all this when you support such people on the basis of religion and relations. Let them suffer without money and food, they should understand what it takes for us to struggle here to earn a living. We struggle here to earn and return back home and get stuck in the airport because a bunch of idiots decided to cause trouble?!

Lost belief in temples and mosques. Have some shame, you all are bothered about Babri/Ayodhya. Which God will you pray in a land of bloodshed?!

Life is a wicket for them. No respect for the dead. No value for life. What to expect of Mangalore anymore then?!

Rai can not handle this as he is supporting one community and no one respects and listen to him.
He should stop interfering and giving instruction to Police.
Rai should give up and take retirement. Some dynamic leaders without any communal background should take over minister in charge.

    Mr. Sunil,
What can Rai do? Recently when Rai said to arrest Kaladka bhat did you se what these BD, BJP guys did. Some said thye will burn DK, There will be bloodshed. So Rai doesn't want any nonosense to happen.
Next is someone is stabbed or attacked it automatically goes into people mind & media that it is communal problem. Some re taking advantage of this situation to take their revenge.
Our ministers like Nalini, Shobha & some other ministers are supporting this communal problems. They also should unite & bring peace make their people understand. What Rai can do alone.
Let police catches these goons encounter then & there itself let it be any relion or outfit automatic everything will stop.
