Mangaluru Jul 2: Sri Rama Sene, Hindu Jana Jagriti Samiti and Akhil Bharath Hindu Mahasabha on Sunday July 2 staged a protest at Lalbagh here against Paraya Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji for hosting Iftar get-together followed by Namaz for Muslims at Sri Krishna Math recently.

Addressing the protesters, state convener of Hindu Mahasabha Dharmendra said, "We strongly condemn the step taken by Paryaya Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of hosting Iftar get-together for Muslims followed by Namaz at Sri Krishna Math. We are emotionally attached to Sri Krishna Math but this step by Swamiji has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community which is unacceptable.

"As elections are inching closer, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji has become the victim of political conspiracy for the sake of vote bank. Hindu-Muslim rift was created after Ayodhya clashes where people of both the communities lost their lives. Being a religious leader he could have sorted out the issue of Ayodhya in the name of unity," he said.

He also condemned the statement made by Pejawar Swamiji that the land of Sri Krishna Math was donated by Haji Abdullah. "Pejawar Swamiji should know that this country was always a Hindu Rashtra and Muslims came here later. He should take back his statement. This shows that age is catching up with him. He also needs to apologize for hosting Iftar koota at Sri Krishna Math premises and also step down as the head of Sri Krishna Math," he demanded.

Questioning the BJP's silence on the issue, he said, "Five years ago, when Congress leader Janardhan Poojary hosted Iftar Koota at Kudroli temple, BJP had protested against the senior congress leader but today BJP has turned out to be a mute spectator and defended the initiative taken by Swamiji. Today the Hindu community is being targeted and brutally murdered and attacked, cow thefts are also happening every now and then but none of them (BJP leaders) have raised their voice. Recently a Hindu family in Kaup was converted to Islam, but no voice has been raised so far. Looking at the frequent attacks on Hindu community, we are even ready keep aside our preachings and take up arms in our hands."

Sri Rama Sene district secretary Prasad Ujire said, "We have deep respect towards Pejawar Swamiji but inviting Muslims for Iftar get-together and allowing Namaz in the Math premises is unacceptable. Under Swamiji's guidance itself we fought for Ayodhya, now in the name of unity Swamiji is hosting Iftar Koota at the Math which has created lot of confusion among the Hindu community. If you (Pejawar Swamiji) had any concern towards uniting Hindu and Muslims, you should have thought it when there was rift during the time of Ayodhya incident and people would not have lost their lives."

Raj Maarla, district convenor, Sri Rama Sene, Chandra Mugera and Harish Amtadi and others were present.

Udupi: Iftar Koota row - SRS offers puja, HJJS demands Pejawar Swamiji's apology

Udupi, Jul 2: Activists of Sri Rama Sene and Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti on Sunday July 2 expressed their objection to the recent Iftar Souharda Koota, hosted at Sri Krishna Math under the guidance of Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji, by holding bhajans and offering puja to Lord Krishna near the Clock Tower here.

Addressing the gathering, secretary of Sri Rama Sene Mangaluru unit Mohan Bhat said, "This is not a protest. By offering puja to Lord Krishna, we want to express that our feelings have been hurt.

"We are doing this as representatives of the entire Hindu community. We have no intention to spark communal unrest. We Hindus are too flexible when it comes to following our religion. Before conducting the Iftar programe there should have been thorough deliberation and an effort to collect everyone's viewpoints. We are hurt that this was not done," he said.

In an indirect jibe at district Youth Congress which had said that it would not allow Sri Rama Sene to protest, Bhat said, "No one should do politics in this matter. They said they form a human chain to stop us. Where was their human chain when Udupi Chalo protest happened last year? Those who play politics in this issue should remember that elections are approaching and a situation may arise where they may come to streets.

"Whenever any harm has been inflicted on Hindu religion, Sri Rama Sene has been the first to stand up and raise voice. This time too, it is not different," he added.

"Pejawar Swamiji is a guru for the entire Hindu community. We cannot stand against him as we have learnt religious principles from him. But we object to the fact that Namaz was offered in the Sri Krishna Math premises. It could have been done outside the Math, we would have had no problem then. In fact, if Pejawar Swamiji invites us to an Iftar Koota, we will be willing to participate," he said.

Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti (HJJS) convenor Vijaykumar said, "Every part of the Math premises is part of the temple too. The Sri Krishna Math should be purified. Neither Iftar Koota nor Namaz should have been done in the premises. We are protesting against letting them (Muslims) break fast and perform Namaz in the premises.

"Pejawar Swamiji should apologise to the Hindu community. Injustice has been done to us and we feel cheated. We met Pejawar Swamiji and tried to convince him, but he refused to change his stance and continued to support the Iftar Koota.

"Let there be Ugadi celebration and bhajans in mosques, only then will 'souharda' (harmony) have true meaning," he said, adding that such programmes as Iftar Koota should not be organized in the Math premises ever again.

Though the protest was peaceful, the police deployed tight security at Krishna Math and on several roads as well as the protest venue as a precautionary measure.

Dinesh Pangala, SRS district president, Jayaram Bhat, spokesperson and others were present.

Some people want to perform Pooja in the Mosque.

Please measure the distance between the Krishna Matt and the dining hall.
Visit any Muslim religious place with their permission and perform the Pooja exactly at the same distance as measured earlier without much noise.
Now the question is, Do the RSS / Rama Sena people know how to obtain the permission because I don’t think anybody would like to invite such a violent group.

I support Pejawar Swamiji for his noble act of humanity!!

If this is your response to Swamiji and to a community for spreading harmony, you guys are real threat to basic humanity. Muslims started feeling regret for Swamiji now for accepting invitation and attending Math.

If this people have no respect for Swamiji and protest against Swamiji then i feel these people have no right to fight in favor of hindus, beside that who gave them authority to represent hindus? The best part is the people who use to support and talk in favor of these so called protector of Hindus are talking against these people... now what is the use? you'll are similar to those politicians who keep on changing parties.

I feel what Pejawar swamiji done is good. We are all Indians and we must stay united for the sake of the nation. Unless Hindus and Muslims stay united our nation can not progress. Muslims are our borthers though they beleive in a different god. As such I feel there is only one god. We call the god by differant names however there is only one god. Lets stay united and make India a great nation. Unless we stay united India as a nation cannot progress. Lets break the narrow walls created by religion and progress. Muslims are our brothers and many muslim personalities have paid a significant role in the development of our nation. Sri APJ Abdul Kalam for example is a man who took indian space mission to a great height. Today many western nations take Indias help for launching for their satellites. There are many others too. We should not create a rift by dividing ourselves. All Indians are same. We are all indians first. Let not religion divide us.

Religion was only created by humans to control masses and all the destruction in this world is because of religion. What if when u die and God asks "so how was heaven", won't you be disappointed? It is no doubt that Pejawar Swamiji played active role in Ramjanmabhoomi movement. But change of heart is unconditional without any politics should be appreciated. When nation is experiencing lynching every week this is confidential building among the minorities from the spiritual head and also need of the hour.
Swamiji should not heed to the call of these Sene's which use Lord Rama for political means. I appreciate Pejawar and ask him to continue the tradition to defeat the enemies of peace.
Rama Sene who has already proved their patriotism in Sindgi in Bijapur hoisting Pakistani flag on Indian soil and his chief Muthalik caught in sting operation accepting 'riots for money' justifies that they don't even follow the devotion of Hanuman to the Lord.
It is high time Hindus come out openly condemn these organization which disrespect the ancient religion of India.

If muslims do allow this then it would be pinnacle in religious Co existence otherwise it will be a cosmetic exercise.

What the mob possibly forgets is that the Math historically was a rather private setup.

Much later on it started attracting devotees of all sorts.

So the Math leaders have every right to do what pleases them without seeking the permission of any Rama and Dooma.

By looking at the pictures, the Brahit Pratibhatane does not have more than 50 noise makers.

The rest of the population is either supportive of the Pejawar Swami or busy minding their own business.

What is the connection between our soldiers dying at the borders and Pejavar Shri hosting an iftar party?
Are you relating all Indian Muslims to Pakistanis? That is condemnable from all angles.

I do hate and condemn people who steal cows from our cow sheds and ofcourse they belong to Muslim community. I also hate those bunch of fanatic Muslims who stand in support of cow thieves all the time.

But we being Hindus should understand that we can not attach the acts of a few Muslims to the whole of the community.

By hosting an Iftar party, Pejavar Shri might not have achieved a big deal, nevertheless his efforts to bring a sort of harmony among people should be appreciated.

Only handful of protesters, since it is Sunday, not much of traffic problems! Why they are performing pooja in the middle of the road? Since most people know the noble deeds of SRS and HJJ, people are wisely enjoying holiday at home and good weather! God awareness by mass! Long live Pejawara Swami, who is wise and trying to bridge the gap between religion and striving to build a peaceful society! I wish he will be considered for Nobel prize in near future!

Agitation should cross all over the nation. When knows very well they won't reciprocate on such doings..why need such things before hand.

First of all do rectification what's wrong in hinduism. Do we give equal right to all people.

Quite amusing...... thug groups turning on their own religious leader.

This incident shows that Hinduism is not a monolithic religion. It is quite diverse in its opinions.

And this is a very reason why I feel that fundamental Hinduism has no foundation to stand upon and they are mostly backed by crooked politicians to further their agenda rather than religious wanting to turn the nation into a theocracy.

Iftar Koota should be done every year ...Muslims are also human beings..When Non vegetarian hindu can have food (lunch) at Bhojanshala, why can't Muslim have fruits and juice at Bhojanshala ? By inviting Muslims and hosting Iftar Koota, Swamiji did good to Hindu religion...

i am ashamed of our police.
Instead of dispersing people who cause traffic obstruction, they have surrounded them as if providing security!!

If they have asked permission to conduct the protest, then they have the right to do it. The police cannot just randomly start dispersing the crowd.

You people better improve your GK before commenting, if they have obtained permission to conduct the protest the police cannot just disperse the crowd.

Mr. Shanker , if they protest with the previous permission, you can't do what you said.

So, better improve your knowledge. Don't write for the sake of writing.

This protest is unnecessary. From their face we can make , expected crowd did not come.
So, totally failure & waste of time.

We should take out our religion mask & live with humanity mind. Every thing will go smooth.

Don't be a victim of selfish Politicians.

Why should police give permission for anything which hinders normal life of public?
Keep your poojas, protests, processions, Eid prayers to your homes or your religious centers and not on public roads.
let me have your enlightened guidance to improve my knowledge Sir.

I totally agree with you that normal public lives shouldnt be hindered because of the processions and other religious stuff which should be kept to their respective religious centeres .Here I can only comment about the Eid prayers. What happens is during Eid, the religious centers cannot accomodate the large number of worshippers which grow in number gradually during the prayers. So once the building is full, they dont have any other options other than praying outside the building. Its not by choice, rather without any option. Its not a justification by any means. I just mentioned the reason why it happens.
