Mangaluru Jun 19: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated A J Home Health, elderly care and palliative care services on Monday June 19 and handed out awards and recognition at the A J Hospital and Research Center.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel handed out the NABH emergency care certificate and NABH blood bank certificate. Fr Prakash D'Cunha handed out the NABH nursing excellence certificate and NABL clinical laboratory certificate. A J Shetty handed out the Ramakrishna Bajaj National quality trophy 2016.

Addressing the gathering MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "I heartily congratulate A J Hospital for bagging five awards. It is a proud feeling that A J Hospital is recognized for its quality health service. Mangaluru is known to be an educational hub consisting of five universities, nine medical colleges and over 200 hospitals in and around the city. It has always been our intention to promote religious tourism, beach tourism and medical tourism. A J Hospital is also one among the contributors to promote medical tourism here. People from every corner of the country visit the hospital for treatment. It provides effective health services and is the first hospital in Karnataka to have bagged the Ramakrishna Bajaj National quality trophy. With this award, A J Hospital has gained nationwide recognition. Credit goes to the staff for their hard work and dedication for the past several years."

“Previously, doctors used to visit the homes of patients, but for the past several years this system has stopped. However, A J Hospital has taken up this initiative by launching A J Home Health,” he added.

He further said, “Private hospitals provide good facilities to the people and if people do not get the facilities they require then they opt for private hospitals. The government must encourage private hospitals to provide facilities which people can make use of."

Director of Infant Jesus Shrine Bikarnakatte, Fr Prakash D'Cunha said, "I congratulate the department and management of A J Hospital on receiving the five prestigious awards. In the past, physicians treated the sick at their homes. A J Hospital has now carried on the tradition of treating patients at their homes. Senior care management has been introduced by the hospital. In general older people who are ill are sidelined and hardly cared for. A J Hospital has done well by treating the elders under A J Home Health."

Chairman of A J Group of Institutions A J Shetty said, "A J Hospital and College is now 15 years and our dream to receive these prestigious awards has come true. We also wanted to provide all kinds of treatment by using high quality equipment under one roof and have succeeded. People all over the world visit A J Hospital and make use of our services. It is a good feeling to receive the five awards and the credit for this goes to the staff."

The programme began with an invocation by Deepika and Reshma. Medical director Dr Prashanth Marla welcomed the gathering. CEO and HR head A J Hospital and Reasearch Centre Laxmish Rai proposed the vote of thanks.

It is an extremely good gesture on the part Mr. A.J. Shetty to take this initiative and launch A VERY MUCH WANTED PROJECT. Mr. Shetty is a very a successful businessman and his venture into the medical field some years ago was indeed a step in the right direction.

Hope the present project will be a forerunner of many more to follow.
