Chitradurga, May 20: In a big embarrassment to Dalit and poor people, BJP party chief B S Yeddyurappa, Member of Parliament Shobha Karandlaje and other BJP leaders declined to eat pulao at the house a Dalit, instead they ordered food from a hotel.

The incident took place at the house of Rudramuni, a Dalit BJP leader in Kelagote near here on Friday, May 20.

B S Yeddyurappa earlier had said that he would eat at Dalit’s houses during public interaction meetings.

When there was such a meeting at the house of Rudramuni on Friday morning, his family had prepared hot pulao to treat the guests that included Yeddyurappa, Karandlaje and former minister Govinda Karajola. But the guests declined to eat food and ordered idly, vada and pongal from a prestigious hotel and ate at Rudramuni’s house.

Some Dalit leaders expressed anguish at the incident. “If we knew they liked idly, vada and pongal, we would have prepared that instead of pulao,” a family member of Rudramuni said.

But it is not known did the leaders hate pulao or did not want to eat at Dalit’s house.
