Please ensure that no encroachment takes place around lakes, if any encroachment has already taken place get it cleared immediately. Do not allow Mangalore to become another Bangalore, where all lakes has been eaten away by political leaders and local goons

In the olden days, lakes and ponds were the lifeline of the surrounding people. Lakes and ponds would help to maintain the ground water level due to which surrounding residents could get clean, potable drinking water in their wells. But due to urbanised lifestyle, gradually piped water was began to be supplied by the govt. As result, the ponds and lakes were began to be neglected and many of them disappeared. It is good to see the plan of the the Mangalore Municipal Corporation to revive the dead lakes and ponds. Revival of these lakes and ponds can help environment in many ways, besides helping to maintain the ground water level.
