Koppal: Moving bus catches fire, passengers miraculously saved

Koppal, May 2: As many as 8 passengers in a bus had a miraculous escape after the vehicle caught fire at Halageri near here on Monday, May 1.

The private bus belonging to Greenline Transports was bound for Mundaragi from Bengaluru and had a total 22 passengers. Many of the passengers got down at Hosapete and Koppal and only 8 remained in the bus when the mishap took place.


Some motorcyclists, who noticed fire on the outside of the bus, followed it and managed to alert the driver. The driver immediately stopped the vehicle and all the passengers alighted. Soon the bus was engulfed in flames.

Fire Brigade personnel, who rushed to the spot, extinguished the fire.

An electrical short-circuit is said to be the reason for the fire.

Koppal Rural police have registered a case.
