Mangaluru: PFI denies pelting stones during protest, demands ouster of CCB cops

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK )

Mangaluru, Apr 6: Popular Front of India (PFI) on Thursday April 5 came down heavily on the police department for unleashing lathi charge on its activists during its protest near the city police commissionerate and denied claims that the activists had pelted stones.

Addressing a press meet here, Ashraf A K, PFI secretary said, "Police claimed that PFI activists had pelted stones at the cops and the police commissoner's office resulting in injuries to the police personnel, but there is no proper evidence which shows PFI activists pelting stones on the police.

"Our demand was to seek justice for innocent Ahmed Qureshi who was a victim of atrocities at the hands of CCB police inspector Sunil Naik and Shyam Sundar who illegally arrested Qureshi and assaulted him in an inhuman way. He was kept in illegal confinement from March 21 to 27 and during the period he was tortured resulting in bodily harm. Later he had to be admitted to Wenlock hospital," he said.

"We urge sacking of CCB police Sunil Naik and Shyam Sundar. A criminal case should be filed against them for torturing Ahmed Qureshi. During the lathi charge, over 65 activists were injured. Despite the atrocities on the innocent and the seriousness of the issue, none of the ministers from the district or officers of the district administration has shown any concern on the issue.

"Nevertheless, the police commissioner has assured to take stringent action against the police officers concerned within four days, but if he fails to do so, we will continue our agitation against the police department," he added.

"Some unidentified miscreants attacked Urwa station ASI Aithappa, which we strongly condemn. People are labelling this attack as retaliation to the lathi charge on PFI, which we strongly deny. We also demand probe into this case," Ashraf said.

When asked about the police statement that permission was not sought to hold the protest, he said, "We have given intimation to the police regarding the protest. And we did not pelt stones on the police. There is no evidence of it. Police are trying to justify the lathi charge."

On the police's claim that Ahmed Qureshi had stated in the court and to the doctor that he was not tortured by the police, Ashraf said, "Police had told Ahmed Qureshi in advance not to reveal about the torture, and threatened him with encounter. Out of fear, he declined from telling the truth in the court and to the doctor."

Shaafi Bellare, Nawaz Ullal, Siraj Kavoor and others were present.

My personal opinion.,police were Vere very soft on these rogues of PFI. Mangalore has become den of communal rogues who get their money from some Muslim countries to create this communal disturbance. Most of the the participants do not have any employment except propagating their religion and probably recruiting candidates for ISIS. Time some serious enquiry is done to get rid of this people out of Mangalore. Second thing majority of them are Kerala, and they only speak malyalam

If they did not use stones to stone Policemen, then someone else must have done that. However, don't think that they will show to cctv footage, rather, next time arrange your own cctvs.

These kind of actions and reactions are creating criminals out of justice seekers.

Pelting stones is an easiest job for the activists to do just to have the fun. But the result is different one as many constables including SI got injuries. What kind of fun is this? Protest has to be done in a peaceful way and not in a rowdism way. thats why all these things happen. Finally you blame Police who were posted there.

No proof for lathi charge by police over these leaders. All cooked up story. All leaders seems to be in good energetic condition. If lathi charge carried out by police, then these persons hiding at safe distance away from that area.

"Police had told Ahmed Qureshi in advance not to reveal about the torture, and threatened him with encounter".
PEOPLE WHO WERE SAYING THE COPS BEHAVE WELL WITH CIVILIANS, WHERE ARE YOU NOW?
Do you understand the mindset of cops now? If the same thing was done by us to someone, wouldn't we get booked under threatening? The so called law protectors aren't following the law and they expect us to follow the laws? Just because you're a cop doesn't give you right to assault someone so bad or threaten him. These cops are acting lik the cops they show in the movies.

60% Police Dept. still under sanghis control, thats why they did lati charge during the protest and they did false allegation of pelting stones to secure them selves.
In Video footage it clear shows how police personnel cruelly attacked first.
