This Hollywood actress came to Chikkamagaluru for Ayurvedic treatment

Daijiworld Media Network - Chikkamagaluru (SP)

Chikkamagaluru, Mar 17: A well-known Hollywood actress came to India seeking cure for her physical and mental fatigue through Ayurveda treatment. The actress, Isabel Lucas, is all praise for the Indian system of medicine, which she says, is unlike any other system in the world. Her praise, coming in the face of scores of people seeking treatment in foreign countries including USA, speaks volumes about the richness of Ayurveda which is often neglected by the citizens of our own country.

Isabel Lucas, who is an Australian by origin, has acted in over 22 Hollywood movies. Busy schedule of acting, hard work, stunts, and need to travel to far away destinations among others, had taken a toll on her health. She felt devastated, and mentally drained. Pressure had made her body and mind weak. Although she had the option of seeking treatment in high end, famous hospitals, Isabel knew she did not have faith in them. To get relief from psychological and physical pressures, she chose to get treated in a tiny hospital at Hariharapura in Koppa taluk of the district. She had learnt about Ayurveda treatment from her friends.

She arrived at 'Arogya Niketana Ayurvedashram' at Hariharapura as a simple human being, stayed there for 15 days, and went through the regimen of strict diet, Panchakarma system of treatment and other native systems of treatment faithfully. She has regained her composure and health, and is grateful to Ayurveda for providing the healing that her body and mind needed badly.

Isabel revealed that she was under immense physical and metal pressure, and her mind had become volatile. "I could not concentrate. I made lot of efforts to find lasting relief from the pressure. I had heard about Ayurveda system of treatment. I am happy that my problems could be solved within 15 days which I spent here. I am extremely satisfied with this unique system of treatment, and Indian culture. I salute them," she said.

Ashwin Shastri, who runs the said Ayurveda hospital, says that the hospital with 15 beds is being run since the last ten years and that over 3,000 persons from over 20 countries have been treated here.

This hospital has been a favourite spot for foreigners seeking an experience that is different from the luxury hospitals with which they are accustomed. Even students from some foreign countries are studying Ayurveda method of treatment here. The foreigners are finding out that Ayurveda provides them relief from mental and physical ailments without any side affects.

We are blessed with Ayurveda which is a gift to humankind from mother nature. I was suffering from heel pain which could not be cured from allopathy treatment. I took x-ray, got injection and tablets which reduced the pain temporarily. Once I stopped taking those tablets, the pain recurred. How long can you take those tablets? Then I approached a local Ayurvedic pundit who gave me some tablets and kashaya and asked me to follow strict diet for 2 months. Done. It was more than 15 years ago and believe me I have not experienced such pain again. Salute to Ayurveda. If I need to see a doctor, I would travel miles to visit a pundit or Ayurvedic hospital than a doctor for his English medicine. Besides it is cheap, there is no side effect from this medication.
This ancient science should be encouraged because it is really good. While foreigners visit our country for treatment, our ministers who speak loudly about India, Indianization, encouraging Indian businesses, etc. are visiting foreign countries even for a pain in their butt at the cost of taxpayers’ money. We cannot expect any good things from them. It’s we, who should encourage this science by opting for such treatment. Kerala is on place where a huge number of foreigners visit mainly for Ayurveda treatment and massage. Karnataka should follow the suite. Sri Virenda Hegde has set up such hospitals in many parts of Karnataka which is highly commendable. Baba Ramdev too is involved in such business which is really encouraging.

Ayurveda is all about being 'simple', 'natural'. The self-prestigious ones want it 'grand' and 'up market'.

Do you really have proof or are you just speculating? That is a proven system for 2000 years and our forefathers lived for healthy 100 years without any complaints..

Off course today there are too many quacks who may put harmful drugs and call it ayurveda.. but if one abuses the system just because of few quacks, it is not fair.. almost all ingredients in genuine Ayurveda are from chosen plants, fruits, ghee, honey etc.. today all plants have pesticides, chemicals, ghee is adulterated.. that’s why at times we may not get the desired result even in Ayurveda. But abusing the proven system just by 1-2 attempts at some failed practitioner is funny.. and there are enough hate mongers who want to kill yoga and Ayurveda, anyone can guess that.

I agree Ayurvedic treatment is great provided it is done the traditional way. I believe in what Cynthia said in this forum. There are many ayurvedic medicine that is been administered using lot of cortisone and people are unaware of it. Cortisone quickly reduces pain in the body but there are several adverse effect from this which common people are unaware of. So, if you are taking ayurvedic treatment, please ensure that it is genuine and not mixed with chemicals to get quick results. Unfortunately, our present ilk, only believes in quick remedies, destroying the original ayurvedic medicine under the garb of natural medicine and make lots of money...we are good in that, is it not? Please also see the fruits, vegetables available in abundance, laced with chemical to make it look fresh, appealing and sweet too but, at whose cost? Money and Lakshmi is all that we want in our world, definitely not humanity.

You did not read my comment. I clearly said " quacks who may put harmful drugs and call it ayurveda' .. How can we take their case study and conclude as if cortisone is part of Ayurveda? I also mentioned about 'genuine' Ayurveda, only to stress the same point. Any hosp with Ayurveda board need not be genuine. Anyone who claims QUICK remediation, again is not Ayurveda.. they are bogus.. So identify the right practitioner in your locality and then go to that Ayurveda doctor.. that was my point

What i have read and heard about ayurveda, it uses systemic approach to solve problems. It will address the whole system and builds a resistance power in the body against diseases. That is one of the reason why you do not get quick results and not suitable in case of emergency. Whereas alopathy mostly addresses only the problem and not the whole system. We have to hear Dr B M Hegde to learn more on this topic.
