Founded by the Gulf-based businessman, philanthropist and visionary R S Maben, in the year 2002 Silas International School is located in a sprawling 20 - acre land in the Hanumantha Nagar area of Udupi, the famous pilgrimage city in the picturesque coastal Karnataka.


Quality Education

The institue is compliant to the quality parameters as per ISO.

The School is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, is both day and residential, co-educational, having classes from Montessori to Grade X(ICSE).With its student strength of 800+ at present, Silas International School caters to not only local children but also from various States and especially NRI children.

The academic journey for students comes in three phases.

First, the primary section form Montessori to grade 4. This plays a major role in helping children discover themselves and their surroundings.

Second, the Middle School from Grades 5 through 7. This provides a framework for academic challenge and an exposure to a plethora of co-curricular activities to build skills and confidence to face the outside world and to take on its challenges.

Third, is the High School from grades 8 to 10. This comprises of students aged 13-16 which is demanding in terms of academics along with a well-planned structure for the co-curricular activities.

Yet, Silas delivers on its word of holistic development and participatory learning. With an experienced and dedicated group of teachers and staff, the school strives to create an congenial atmosphere to encourage these. 

 


Boarding

The school has a secure and comfortable hostel for boarders. There are separate girls and boys dorms. The boarding is quite literally a "home away from home". Spacious dormitories are equipped with all amenities. A hygienic kitchen and large dining hall serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.


Scouts and Guides

Bulbuls and Guides, Cubs and Scouts special classes are conducted for pupils by trained Flock Leaders, Guide Captains, Pack Leaders and Scout Masters.


Montessori Principles

The school has adopted the Montessori approach to education for its sound educational principles. It offers spacious environment for children to work and learn through exploration. The stimulating environment helps the children to actualise their latent talents and achieve their full potential. Value based education, introduction of our culture through celebration of festivals, personal attention and close monitoring of the child’s progress are the special feature of the school.


Co-Curricular

To provide opportunities for the full blossoming of every human potential, special classes are arranged to teach playing of musical instruments like Guitar, Keyboard, Percussions and even Dancing. Full time dedicated Music Teachers are available to teach both Indian and Western Musical Instruments.

SIS provides karate classes from Class 3 to 8 as part of their regular timetable. Benefits of disciple and self-defense through martial arts is taught. Trained professionals teach as well conduct regular competitions both at the school level as well as state and nation level. Students take part in both State and National Karate Championships. 


Sports

Recognizing the importance of play, which is one of the most natural and important forms of recreation and also the best way to improve one's health and spirits, the institution harbours many toppers in sports.

"Many toppers in sports have emerged from this institution. Sathvik J secured 96.16% in the 2016 ICSE board examinations which is the highest in Udupi. Among the student fraterneity are Athletics and Cricket participants at state and national levels. We also have national level skating champions. We have a 200 meter track and a dedicated cricket pitch. Among indoor games table tennis and chess are also encouraged. Basketball is another sport that is promoted among a great number of outdoor games." says principalDeirdra Maben.


E-learning Page

A refreshing e-leraning page is built on the site. "This is incase students miss the day's classes. Parents and teachers can log on from home. It has been running for a year now. Access is given to only students and parents. Each day's class material is regularly updated on the site, said principal Maben. The e-learning portal similar to a distance-learning model, is a convenient and novel route for parents to familiarise with thier children's academic growth.

    Looks very good. What I can see is such a big playground. Most of the schools in the cities lacks sports activities. I am seriously thinking of sending my daughter next year there if class 5th starts next year

    I did not know Udupi has such a beautiful, professional school. Very happy to know this. I think it will be helpful for many NRIs who are planning to settle down there soon.
