Puttur, Mar 12: In a robbery incident that took place during daytime, a masked man came to a house, used chilli powder to threaten people and took away 30 sovereigns of gold from woman on Saturday, March 11 at Mudnooru near here.

The house belongs to Hussain who works in Middle East. His wife Fouzia and daughters Asina and Asthrina were staying at the house.

When Fouzia was coming out from the bedroom at around 6 am in the morning, the masked man put chilli powder on her. He showed a machete later and said if she did not part with jewellery, he would kill her and daughters. Mother and daughters showed the cupboard where the jewellery was kept. The robber walked away with jewellery in few minutes.

The stolen jewellery include chains, pendants, earrings etc weighing approximately 30 sovereigns.

It is learnt that the robber used the blade and a hammer to break open the door to enter the house. He left the blade and hammer at the house. He also left the chilli powder packet.

Fouzia and her daughters said that the robber was speaking Malayalam language,

Fingerprint experts visited the place with canine squad. Sampya police have registered the case.

Superintendent of police (SP) Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, additional SP Vedamurthy, DySP Bhaskar Rai and Sampya SI Abdul Khader visited the place among other police personnel.
