Bengaluru: Congress MLC Govindaraju denies ‘paying crores' to high command

Bengaluru, Feb 24 (IANS): Karnataka's Congress lawmaker K Govindaraju on Thursday denied paying "crores of rupees" to the party high command or President Sonia Gandhi, Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and Treasurer Motilal Vohra, whose allegedly abbreviated names were found in a diary at his home here.

"The diary, alleged to have been found when the Income Tax officials searched my house last year, does not belong to me. The entries in it were not made by me nor its my handwriting. Someone had left it in my house," Govindaraju told reporters here.

A member of the Legislative Council and Parliamentary Secretary to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Govindaraju, however, admitted that the IT sleuths raided his house a year ago in connection with the filing of tax returns for the previous fiscal (2015-16) and earlier years.

Terming the diary contents "explosive", former Chief Minister and state BJP chief B.S. Yeddyurappa told reporters here last week that initials 'SG' stood for Sonia Gandhi, ‘RG' Rahul Gandh, ‘MV' Motilal Vohra and ‘DVGS' for Digvijay Singh, who is in-charge of the ruling party's affairs in the state.

"Govindraju paid about Rs 1,000 crore to the Congress high command over the last couple of years at the behest of Siddaramaiah to ensure his continuation as the Chief Minister in the state," he alleged.

However, Govindraju dismissed the charge.

"I know nothing about the diary or its entries. You should ask the IT department and find out how Yeddyurappa came to know about its contents. I have not paid any money to the high command, or to the offices of SG, RG or MV as mentioned in the diary.

"I have already told the IT officials that the diary did not belong to me and would have been planted in my house to trap me. It is a mystery how they (IT sleuths) found it in my house," he added.

Whether the diaries can be used as evidence in court is secondary. All the parties do it and people are quite aware of what goes on. But, the surprising thing here is - People who were known to collect hundreds of crores while in power are suddenly reduced to collect single digit crores. Thanks to Karnataka, they are at least getting these to support their existence. If they lose Karnataka also, which looks real, I am sure they could be on the streets begging for money. But still, these people don't realize is that development politics already has and will decimate negative and obstructionist politics.

You are correct This govinda should undergo lie detection test. If found guilty they must punish him but what about sahara diaries..... Is there anybody go for lie detection test. If SC says Sahara diaries are not a valid proof of donation than this diary we have to take as proof???? Yeddy asks Siddu's resignation on the basis of this diary than why he did not ask anybody's resignation on Sahara Diaries??? As I am a simple Indian...... Justice and rules .... Different for each an every person according to his Religion, caste , creed or his contacts???? What is the meaning of "he Republic of India is the largest democracy in the world?????

Sahara diary is not a diary as it states, it just a print out taken after writing the names in Microsoft word in a computer. Please read the complete supreme court judgment on the same.

    Supreme court Judgment

"We find the documents seized from Birla and Sahara groups to be random computer entries, diaries, emails and Excel sheets. These are not maintained on a regular basis as books of account"

These documents bear an uncanny resemblance to the infamous Jain Hawala dairies that were found two decades ago. In 1996, these dairies, which came into the possession of the CBI, indicated those associated with businessperson Surinder Kumar Jain and his brother had made payments to a host of important political personalities such as L K Advani, Madhavarao Scindia, Balram Jakhar, V C Shukla, Madan Lal Khurana, P Shiv Shankar and Arif Mohammed Khan, among others. While a lower court had ordered the CBI to frame charges against these politicians, the higher courts ruled that the diary entries did not qualify as “admissible evidence. - See more at: http://www.epw.in/journal/2016/47/web-exclusives/did-modi-receive-rs-55-crore-sahara-group-gujarat-cm.html#sthash.YrNTYh1k.dpuf

Jain-Hawala story is a closed since there is a judgment provided by the high court and on Sahara Diary issue supreme court had given the judgment...

Let there be a investigation to know if the diary found in MLC house is fake or genuine and let the court provide the judgment..

Note: This diary was found in congress MLC house and it provides the details of the money paid to the congress high command.

    People,

Diary does not belong to him, somebody left it in his house...this is typical behaviour of CONgressmen ....that's why they are in the present mess...

If CBI/IT arrest him again and aeroplane him like they did to Ramalinga Reddy(Current Transport Minister) and HM Revanna(Current CONgress MLC) in JMM bribary case...he will tell whom diary belongs!!!...

Now Supreme Court has ruled that Modi's name in Sahara Diary is not evidence...now BJP has to keep quiet...otherwise this will Boomerang on them...its called 'Eating Crow' in English!!!...
