Bengaluru: Three youngsters assault constable; snatch phone, gold chain

Bengaluru, Feb 20: A gang of three youngsters assaulted a police constable and allegedly snatched his phone and gold chain near Banaswadi in Pulakeshinagar police limits in the early hours of Monday.

The constable, Basavaraj Hipparagi (28), a driver of the Hoysala Police Patrol vehicle attached to the Pulaskeshinagar police station, was returning home in Banaswadi on his motor-cycle after his night shift duty around 4.30 am.

The constable, who was in plainclothes after his duty, was allegedly not allowed to pass near the Tank Bund Road close to the Don Bosco Church in Lingarajapuram. The obstruction of the road by the youngsters led to altercation and in the process the trio attacked the constable.

The youngsters assaulted the constable and also snatched his mobile phone and gold chain, according to a complaint lodged with Banaswadi police.
